A folder on my USB drive? Cuz Windows does not let me access that drive since it thinks it's a nonsense drive that needs reformatting

you are confused i think you formatted your drive to wbfs?
wbfs files go in a regular folder on a fat32 or ntfs formatted drive if you havent already put any games on your wbfs formatted usb go ahead and reformat to fat32 now for simplicity later on

No not confused I figured as much. I guess I need to convert it/them to iso.

A .wbfs file is used for FAT32/NTFS partitions. They can be converted to .ISO with some WBFS Managers (like the already named Wii Backup/Game Managers).

The .wbf1 file is there because the game is too big to be stored in 1 file (for FAT32, because there's a 4GB limit on files there)

6 year bump whatever, question - should i keep the wbf1 file alongside the wbfs file (file name the same) for use in usb loader gx?

wbfs1 is the split section of the game.

If the game its bigger than 4gb, it will be splitted in 2 files, wbfs, and a wbfs1, this tells the usbloader to continue reading the game on both files.
since FAT32 only suppors 4gb max.

Huh, that makes sense then! Didnt think about the 4gb transfer limit thing. Thanks (:

Edit: So the USB Loader will just load the WBFS file like normal, and then call upon the WBF1 file whenever without error?

I have a wbsf and a wbs1 file in the same folder. Whenever I try and load it it never works and just sends me back to the homebrew channel. Does anyone know why?

You mention two diferent files (WBFS and WBFS1) while trying to load "it"... which one are you referring to?

Also, which loader are you using and where do you have "them" stored? (i.e. USB flash memory, SD Card, USB HDD).

Is this a guessing game? O.o

The best you describe the issue, the easier will be for us to try and help.

Are you using Wii Backup Manager to transfer the files?
What are you trying to load it (which loader) with and what kind of storage device? Flash drives are notorious for not working with USB loaders.
Do you have cIOS installed?

You need to have both files in the same folder, try to use WiiBackUpManager, as this create the needed structure.

I use UsbLoaderGX without issues. and yes Both files are needed.

What are the names of your .wbfs and .wbf1 files?

They must be named as the game title ID for get recognized by USB Loader GX.

For example: for the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Europe/PAL) - ID: RSBP01
In our case we have .wbfs and .wbf1 files
So, these two files MUST be named with the title ID of the game.
In this case:
RSBP01.wbfs
RSBP01.wbf1
