Hacking Unable to get the right time set in new leaf

My systems time is set for today's date but the game reads it as new years and wrong time. Is this cfw related?

You can change the day and time in New Leaf when Isabelle tells you the day and time. I don't know the exact option but don't start up your town and select the bottom option.

Selecting the bottom option will bring up a list of other options.

Continue -> Select character -> I need help first... -> Set the time.

I didn't have my game on me earlier and I didn't remember the exact path and text.
