Hardware New 3DS XL Will Not Power Up

Hi. I have a New 3DS XL which I had started to replace the screen on but broke a clip on the motherboard and put it all back together as best I could, however it was then only showing a blue light on power up, which I assumed from other posts could be due to the ribbon connector not sitting correctly.

After trying to put things in place a second time I am now not able to get the New 3DS XL to switch on at all (not even a blue light). With the charger plugged in the orange light comes on (for charging) but still nothing when pressing the switch on the 3DS.

Can anyone give me any pointers on what to try next. I only want to get it back up and running to do a system transfer and know if I send it to Nintendo for repair the motherboard will get replaced and I'll lose all the StreetPass and saved game data.

I am able to do some electronics if anyone can suggest where to check for voltages etc. but not sure where I need to be checking after looking over the boards.

I've found this thread which explains the same problem I'm having at the moment with the 3DS not powering on. I've ordered a replacement daughter board and will see if that makes any difference when it arrives later this week.

My concern is that I don't recall connecting the battery in the wrong way. Could it be something else that is causing this issue?

I've now tried changing the power board (and assuming it is a working power board) then it hasn't resolved the issue. I still get nothing when switching on the 3DS.

After reading another thread which suggested leaving everything disconnected on the main board, with the exception of the power board ribbon cable, I've now tried this both with the old and new power boards and still get nothing when switching on (not even the blue light).

Has anyone got any suggestions on what I could try next? Thanks.

having the same problem on my n3dsxl. managed to changed power board, but it didnt workout.

I'm not sure what you need to see but you will notice that the slip holding the thin ribbon (possibly the touch screen) has broken. The connector at the top right under the board also has the clip broken off which I've tried (unsuccessfully so far) to hold in place with some tape. When I last took the board apart I disconnected the power board ribbon to remove the main board and spent some time trying to keep the ribbon on the underside in place so not sure if that caused any damage when I was holding it. I had the blue light come on before that but now get nothing.

As I mentioned above some posts suggested no power would mean a power board problem and I've changed this, although I've not been able to tell if the one I have is working or not as it still doesn't start up. I've also read posts that a loose ribbon cable can prevent it starting up (some even say taking out a ribbon cable can get back to the blue light). Other posts said remove all cables except the power board ribbon and that should give the blue light, but still I get nothing.

Also, I've tried the battery in an older style 3DS XL and it works fine and shows as 100% charged, so I am sure the battery is working.

Please note that I am not trying to repair this to fully working condition, I just want to be able to power up to do a system transfer.

If you are local I may think about doing a repair on your console obvs for a certain price (nothing above £30) but up to you if you trust me, last time I was heavily critisized when I tried to make myself a foot hole

May be the broken connector under the top right and check if there is any shorts on the touch screen digtizer flex, touch screens are relatively cheap to replace.
