Where it all began

Breaking news boys -----

You can only ram hack botw 1.10 - Pandas trainer does not work yet with the new botw 1.11 patch. This will probably be fixed within a day or so, but I'm no expert so don't take my word for it. This is halting my progress on making the perfect premade save.

Edit - PandaOnSmack stated: "Stuff has moved I guess. Might take some time to realign it all. Will check this weekend. Ta."

End of news----------

Hello everyone, after PandaOnSmack released their trainer for botw I had an idea to make a Custom Difficulty on BOTW. Honestly, it wasn't very good.. but after I posted about it on reddit, me and the community made a strong version that most people can agree upon.

Credits: PandaOnSmack, MaxHP9999, Zeebo, and NoThisIsStupider

You will have to use TCPGecko and Panda's Trainer to edit a new save. (get past plateau)
*This mode is based on the Honor system. One day I will be able to restrict you from using items and doing actions against the rules, but I cannot do so at the moment.*

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Content

  • 3 Varying Difficulties.
  • Classic Zelda Themes.
  • Balanced Weapon Progression System (Unbalanced if you are a milk drinker)
  • Exploration and Map Memorization is a bit more impactful.
  • A very hard boss fight if you stroll in unprepared.
  • You are forced to take new paths on many occasions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Difficulty
  • Breath of Death - No heart containers (intended way)
  • Breath of Balance - Allowed a heart container every 20 shrines.
  • Breath of the Milk Drinker - Get as much as you'd like.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Classic Zelda Mechanics
  • Bombs are a commodity, you may not touch your bomb runes. Bomb Arrows is how you'll get past the puzzles, unless it requires remote detonation.
  • Master Sword will not be the HM Slave of Breath of Death, it will be the best weapon.
  • Boomerang is back!
  • No durability system, only a scaling weapon progression progressed by exploration.
  • You will be in your Classic style 24/7 (Pick a classic link suit, I chose windwaker)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Restrictions
  • Only use the unlimited durability items you earn, you may pick up weapons to use as ranged projectiles but that's it.
  • Bomb runes are off limits like i said. You may use them if remote detonation is 100% necessary.
  • DO NOT FIGHT THE BLIGHTS AT THE END OF THE DIVINE MISSIONS. This is to make you fight 6 bosses at the last battle, and not 1 and a half. It also will give you a heart container.
  • You must be on Pro Mode, and never activate towers outside the Great Plateau. You will learn the map really well this way, feels good.
Upgrades and Scaling

The way you'll progress your items and get better weapons is not the same. If you find a weapon on the ground, you may not use it but you may hurl in into the face of your opponent.
Instead, you will be given low damage unlimited durability weapons which you will unlock with my progression system.
My progression system rewards you heavily for walking around aimlessly killing monsters, completing shrines and collecting ingredients.

Basics of the system: X amount of Shrines will unlock an item, X amount of Mon will purchase it.

-Update V1.2- Instead of trading monster parts, we will now trade Mon. This gives monster parts their own individual value. (before a bokoblin horn was just as good as a lynel horn.) I organized it here for your convenience.
I matched up the prices of the unlimited durability weapons with the Bokoblin hat so you can actually get rid of the mon.
The hat costs 99 mon. So if an item costs 297 mon you'll need to buy 3 hats to mod in that item. All the prices of the mod items are a multiple of 99 to streamline this.
So yes, in a sense you'll be trading bokoblin hats for your gear. This fixes our core problem!
Monster Parts = Mon
Octo Balloon = 1
Moblin Horn, Keese Wing, Ancient Screw, Monster Extract = 2
Bokoblin Horn, Chuchu Jelly = 3
Bokoblin Fang, Lizalfos Horn, White Chuchu Jelly, Red Chuchu Jelly, Yellow Chuchu Jelly, Octorok Tentacle, Ancient Spring = 5
Moblin Fang, Fire Keese Wing, Electric Keese Wing = 6
Lizalfos Talon = 8
Bokoblin Guts, Keese Eyeball, Ancient Gear = 10
Moblin Guts, Lizalfos Tail = 12
Octorok Eyeball = 13
Molduga Fin, Hinox Toenail = 15
Icy Lizalfos Tail, Red Lizalfos Tail, Yellow Lizalfos Tail = 16
Hinox Tooth =18
Lynel Horn, Ancient Shaft = 20
Lynel Hoof = 30
Hinox Guts, Ancient Core = 40
Dragon's Scale = 60
Lynel Guts, Giant Ancient Core = 100
Shard of Dragon's Fang = 110
Shard of Dragon's Horn = 150
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scaling Mod Shop

Shrines needed to unlock item -- Item Name -- Mon Cost
10 -- Boomerang -- 99 Mon
25 -- Traveler's Bow -- 297 Mon
40 -- Soldiers Broadsword -- 495 Mon
50 -- Zora Spear -- 396 Mon
50 -- Double Axe -- 396 Mon
60 -- Kakariko Fairy Fountain -- 297 Mon
75 -- Dah Hesho Fairy Fountain -- 297 Mon
85 -- Hylain Shield / Terry Town Shop -- 495 Mon
90 -- Revali's Gale -- 693 Mon (I will tell you how to get Gale without Divine Quest below)
100 -- Master Sword -- 495 Mon
All Shrines -- Fierce Deity Armor -- No mon.

Korok Seeds Will Upgrade the your bow.
30 Seeds gets you a Swallow Bow.
75 Seeds gets you a Silver Bow
150 Seeds gets you a Duplex bow.
300 Seeds gets you a Twilight Bow
500 Seeds gets you a Bow of light
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to expect

Weather, monsters, and terrain kicking your ass because you are stuck in Classic Link outfit. I highly suggest you learn the ins and outs of Recipes. You'll need good attack pots and fantastic weather pots or you are going to really struggle out there.

The Master Sword is going to be key for the last boss. It will do 60 damage to the bosses compared to the almighty 14 damage sword i'd give you. Or even the 5 damage sword before that.

When you first start out, it's a huge struggle to get in damage with the traveler's sword. You feel like you are swinging a balloon around, and you are also a balloon.. in a world of spikes.. spikes everywhere.. ....This is normal.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't know how to add in these Max durability items? Don't know how to get Gale without Divine Quest?

I can fix that.
For instructions on TCPGecko and Panda's trainer scroll to the bottom of it's GitHub Page

Revali's gale is more simple than you'd think, you can change any item in the materials section to Gale.

When you save and reload it moves it to the key items section.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas, or can help me make this a legit mod with hard restrictions, the whole 9 yards.

Premade Save is being made as we speak.

EDIT: I'm Going to mess the new Mon system from time to time, make sure it's hard enough to get that much mun.

Hey I really like this new layout and structure! Easier to read! I guess you updated the reddit one too! Holy shit the mon idea is also great! I guess the first thing to do is go and unlock him and his locations!

I wish I waited to get the save file, getting to do everything all over again then figuring out the codes was a pain in the butt haha Kinda burnt me out of it. But Ill try it out again when I have time!

Anyway this is great! Do the first 4 shrines count btw?

Absolutely love this, it's much better than before with the new mon system. It really turns the game into an RPG where you pretty much gain exp in the form of mon. Fighting harder enemies nets more mon. Be sure to make the lower tier monsters give less mon, don't want the challenge to be exploitable. One exploit I can think of is the zora's spear. Spears are so OP in this game, enemies just cannot attack you while you're swinging it from far. And if you do a charge attack while they're getting up from the ground, they're instantly locked into your combo every time. The only tough monster is lynel since it has resistance to any attack including freezing and shock.

I do miss the infinite arrow reward as one of the higher tier rewards. The user wouldn't have to actively run tcpgecko, they can instead mod in 999 arrows. This would be pretty exploitable, but it should be hard to unlock. I'll be fun to snipe an enemy with a long range bow.

From here you can do nothing but improve the whole thing.
The best thing I love about this is the reward system, it really changes the way you play the entire game. I wonder if bombs can be exploited through the rupee tricks, or even by selling a bunch of gems. In other words, bombs may actually be easy to afford since you have nothing else to buy.
Are shock or ice arrows allowed in this?

Edit: I thought of another exploit. You said we can throw weapons we find at monsters, that's nice of you but it can be taken advantage of. Are we allowed to keep picking it up just to throw it over and over? What if that person purposely took the weapon with them after finishing up a battle just to use it in another battle? What if that weapon happened to be really strong, or had ice on it?
I personally think that we should just simply drop weapons we get and not use them in any way. It's really easy to drop weapons. Or what if we sold them for money. But then that would give the player a LOT of money haha

The post can use a little proof reading to fix a few typos here and there, but I understand the post was just created. From here you can do nothing but improve the whole thing.

You know the twilight bow and the bow of light have infinite arrows right?

It's not a mod, it's a creative way of using cheats to make a whole new way to play the game in a very challenging way. You'll use weak but never breaking weapons and also a weak armor set. It's a challenge for those who at least finished the game before.

They will indeed count!
I am making the premade with you in mind actually, I don't want you or others to get burnt out by the processes of the oh so fickle ram hacking.

In my pre made I am modding in as much as I can, and going to store it away in the hateno house. This will make it so modding is only required for late game items such as twilight bow.

still, players must have self control and not raiding the house ruining the experience.

Sorry for late response! Power outage got me good.

The throw system is hard to exploit for sure, I have tried. Most weapons you find to mid and early game break on contact w/ enemy when thrown. If you find a weapon that lasts more, by all means throw it. You would then have to walk back over to it to throw it again, or swap and throw another weapon.

I guess you could throw your super unlimited durability weapons, but you risk losing it and it won't do double damage from the break. Breaking weapons does double damage, not throwing. That's the key advantage to throwing weapons. You might as well not waste time and hit the enemy 5 times in the span it takes to retrieve your weapon again. Throwing weapons is best on enemies below 30% hp. It will cause them to drop their weapon, which you can then throw and finish off an opponent. Other than this, it's going to waste a lot of time and put you at risk when you drop your shield.

All elemental arrows are allowed. The effects count more on this version.

I only say that because the bows will have low dps, but can still stun. You might want to capitalize on the stun rather than throwing rupees away for a little bit of damage.

With the spear, I had to think long and hard about that one because I am well aware of its potentials. Hard CC and reach is good on this game mode. In my strong opinion though, shields are the best for BoD. That is unless you are balanced or milk drinker. I can't dodge every attack perfectly even as the creator of this, shields will be the seperator between you and the game over screen.

I will always use a spear when I see a solo enemy, but when I see multiple guys coming my way I definitely use the shield.

Sorry guys I'm new to GBATemp. Double posting like a scrub

I just thought of an idea. Why don't you make a discord server for discussing this playtrough and coming up with ideas. It's a bit easier to talk about ideas in a chat. Plus I'd like to get to talk to you myself, you're an awesome person with an awesome idea.

We are pretty small for discord, would be hard to keep that going without proper handling which I would fail horribly at. Would be cool to talk to people that also experience the uniqueness of the mode though. I even had to switch to a Ps4 controller because fights are so long sometimes my hands hurt with that big ass game pad. Also things like hinox is now a god boss below 25 shrines. I learned when you dodge his clap, you don't want the flurry rush. Do it for early and jump at his face. If get it just right you can poke his eye to then start landing in damage. Shits hard without a bow and 3 hearts Jesus.

I think this is great idea and fixes the games biggest flaws. This mod really needs more attention and should say [Mod] in the title.

will the save work for the wii u? how do i get the save to work for the wii u? or is it for the wii u emu only? PS. we need a demo of the mod of the save to see if it's truely what everyone is looking for. or a beta like beta 1 would be the great plateau and showing how it would work and stuff.
