Sony already did their own Switch but it was a terrible disaster.

Back in the PSP days, Sony released the PSPgo which was completely digital-only for its games and did away with the UMD disc drive (great idea but poor execution), though the one thing that not many were aware of.. The PSPgo Dock -- Or officially known as, the "Cradle" station.

I read this about the PSPgo on GBATemp not too long ago, I honestly can't remember the thread or user who brought it up but it's here anyway.

Really a shame that Sony is such bollocks with their handheld gaming systems. This could have been amazing! Whilst I don't own a PSPgo or the PSPgo Cradle, I do have the PSTV micro-console but it's not 100% identical and smooth in emulation speeds as the PSP itself was (at least not on 3.20 OFW with the PSP exploitable method).

Anyway, if Sony stepped out of the handheld gaming market it would make sense because they've never did a good job supporting their own handhelds like Nintendo does. Even Nintendo supported the dead-on-arrival - WiiU all the way through 2017. This is moreso than what can be said about Sony and the Vita.

Really the closest thing I can think of would the original Nvidia shield as I remember in a few ads that they promoted as a system that you can bring it with you to play games only to when you get home connect it to a TV via an HDMI cable and play it with a Bluetooth controller on the big screen

That was prob me that brought it up. I have a pspgo and the cradle and both composite and component cables. U sync a ps3 controller to it too. Then all the psp ps1 and emulators run great on tv with the comfort of the ds3. Love it and take it on trips.

Whoa, the complete package. How much would you sell the PSPgo + Cradle for? Or just the Cradle?

Yup this is better represented to how it works. Only thing to make it complete was a charge station and HDMI output, except that was never official. Having the HDMI mini kinda wasn't as useful to me. But it was close enough. Heck, even if you had that mirror cast thing the chrome cast can do, would have been close enough. On top of that it streamed games either from Online server or your PC in network. Making it the selling point of the thing. Having console quality games directly on the system wasn't a thing until the shield tv was made, and then you can play games like metal gear rising or border lands or whatever else with the sweet tegra x1. Before that was half life and trine on shield tablet but i think it was mostly a port to android on the K1 which isn't bad but is not X1 standard to be able to have relevant experience to console class without a quality downgrade to get decent performance. :P

Just update to 3.60 and take advantage of Adrenaline?

Yeh, Sony was ahead of their time.
Much like other companies in the 80's and 90's.
Smartphones are much older then people think they are.

The general public is slow and dumb.

Well the PSPgo was kind of a stripped down PSP and as mentioned you couldnt play all your already bought games on it. Some games werent even available for the Go (Kingdom Hearts for example) since they werent on the PSN Store ^^. So really not that good of an offer if you think about it.

The only problem with the go is his sides. That hurts the hands. Aside, is a great portable, small, clean, and beautiful.

PSP Go sucks IMO. Bad design ergonomically and no UMD support. Stick with the original PSP 1000, 2000, 3000. Vita on the other hand, now that's a good handheld gaming console. A worthy successor of the PSP. Too bad $ony fucked it up. The vita prototype has that HDMI port which was interesting. Also, $ony didn't even use their accessory port. It was just there sitting, freakin' useless.

edit: You can also use video-out on the old PSP to display on the tv. IIRC, it uses the component or AV cable. Using the RGB component cable looks fantastic on the TV. It's cheaper than this cradle thing.

But 11.3 is hackable. Just no CFW.
Userland to be honest, it doesn't have any exploits to take advantage of many features many people wanna do, like installing free games.
Don't get me wrong, the Vita was ahead of its time and it does have great games, indies as well.
But if Sony rejected the console entirely, well... soon enough its gonna be completely forgotten.

Sony didn't rejected it, Sony abandoned it like an unwanted child.
Cut away like a tumor from it.

It's such a neat handheld :c
