Super Mario Run is releasing on Android March 23rd

Nintendo of America announced earlier today via Twitter that the mobile game Super Mario Run will hit the Android marketplace on March 23rd. It's been possible to pre-register for a while now but the release date was finally announced.

According to the Tweet, the game comes with the 2.0.0 update. Like the iOS version, the game itself will be free to play... for a time. Eventually you will come to a point where you will have to pay $9.99 to continue playing the rest of the 24 levels that the game has to offer. Another thing to note is that the Android version, like the iOS version, requires you to always be online while you play.

As you wait for the game to be released, you can watch the following trailer 7,200 times. By the time you finish, the game will be released.

$10... overpriced since you can,t go back where you want and it,s online only. Which means I can,t even play it everywhere I want. Just at hone lmao.

Sorry, but I will pirate this if somehow possible and I,m saving up for the Switch anyways, which means Nintendo will still get my money, just not from this game.

I don't have a rooted phone. It's not really necessary. Don't buy phones directly from cell service providers and you won't have shovelware.
I made this mistake on my first Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.) Where would you buy an Android phone with an unlocked bootloader and unlocked carrier? I've been trying to do my homework on this for some time so I dont make the same mistake twice.

You can buy it directly from the manufacturer websites. Also Ebay.

It is more expensive to buy an unlocked phone, yes, but companies like AT&T are already getting rid of those deals where you pay off your phone over time with a 2-year agreement plan. Eventually everyone will just choose to buy unlocked versions, I suppose.

It's also really satisfying using a stock device, as the manufacturer intended. None of those bullshit AT&T CAR MODE apps nobody uses.

My best recommendation is to buy older phones. Cellphones have strangely peaked in their technology recently. My unlocked LG G3 phone is similar in power to phones being released today despite being two (three?) years old. My mom recently bought an unlocked Iphone 6 at $250.

Check out gsmarena.com and do a search for a phone which meets your hardware needs. This is how I discovered the LG G phones and Huawei brand.

The thing is I paid full price for the phone from AT&T. This was my first Android phone so I wasnt familiar with the scene and things like bootloaders so it was a real kick to the teeth making a mistake of where I bought it and learning after the fact that you can own a more limited device, I felt scammed. You would think something like this would be all made equal everywhere.

First, make sure you know the correct type of unlocked phone you will need for your service.

There are GSM cell services, like TMobile and AT&T, and CDMA, Verizon and Sprint. You can recognize GSM phones by their need of a SIM chip. CDMA phones do not need a SIM chip.

This is important because if you ever want to change your cell service provider, say from Verizon to AT&T, you will need a brand new phone. They don't use the same type of cellphone signal towers.

Next, decide what phone you want. As I stated before, check out gsmarena.com and use the advanced search on their site to find a phone that suits your needs. I personally wanted a phone with 32GB internal and 3GB of RAM, so that's what I searched. GSM Arena also helps keeping up with the latest cellphone devices and what is most popular.

After that, and I find this part frustrating yet fun at the same time, the hunt for where to buy the phone. My mom likes buying phones off Ebay and AliExpress. Me, not so much. I like perusing the official manufacturer websites and retailers. Amazon is the big one! Best Buy sells new unlocked phones as well as refurbished. GameStop has used iPhones. Best bet, stalk FatWallet.com (a community of frugal people who are obsessed with deals).

Finally, when it comes to connecting your unlocked phone to the cellphone provider network, it is as easy as transferring the SIM chip from one phone to another. Some new phones may have those tiny assed SIM chips, so you may need to visit one of your cellphone service provider's stores to get an exchange.

Fun fact, AT&T stores that aren't run by corporate will charge for SIM card exchanges. You will need to pay $5. I am not sure if the same happens for TMobile, since they didn't do that to me back when I had them. Be sure to ask if they charge for SIM card size exchanges.

Anyway, as for rooting and all that junk I recommend visiting https://xda-developers.com/ . These people will teach you all jargon relative to rooting your Android in the help board.

I just want to make sure I understand correctly. GSM is better than CDMA because of its flexibility to go to any carrier I want in case I ever do need to change it in the future. Right?

I dont need help with rooting itself, but because my phone has its bootloader locked that limits me on what I can do with it and unfortunately theres no way to unlock it. I just want to make sure I dont make that mistake again especially when I'm paying full price for the phone. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Nope. GSM is distinctly different than CDMA.

Think of it like this: GSM speaks one language. CDMA speaks another language. A cellphone which speaks GSM can never use a cellphone service which speaks CDMA. They are entirely different types of radio transmission frequencies.

While GSM is popular globally, CDMA is around as well. I can't recall the particular benefits of one over the other. I guess companies prefer GSM because it's easy to piggyback on the other bigname company GSM cellphone towers. GSM SIM chips also allow a company more control over customers with this arbitrary necessity. C'est la vie.

Ah here's a fantastic article that is written than a person more well-informed than I.

My last question for now, is there any way besides simply looking up the phone online to see if its bootloader is locked or not? Like is there an apk you can download to give you a definite answer? I ask so I know how to check and I'll take your advice and get it straight from Samsung next time.

Sadly, only my siblings have Samsung phones so i'm not sure what the game with them is. Rooting is different for all devices. My brother has the same phone as you so I could probably ask him, but I know for sure he knows jackshit about Android rooting.

Bootloaders and rooting are not one in the same.

Think of rooting as to homebrew for 3DS and the bootloader is arm9loader. By having a bootloader locked I can only access so much and it prevents me doing the most I want to do with my phone. I didnt learn about this until much later with my phone.

For example, I cannot install Magisk on my phone which would allow me to hide my rooting activity from apps such as Fire Emblem Heroes. To install it requires a system level of access that can only be obtained with an unlocked bootloader.

Jesus christ it must be your computer going blind looking at the god awful white version of the temp.

Dark Temp for life.
Good advice, how can I change it? It would probably be easier on my eyes too not having such brightness hitting me all the time.

I should probably report this problem to the admin, who knows what other users this affects.

Riiight at the bottom of the page it says Tempstyle. Click it and select Dark.
It should really just be the default...the white style is unbearable.
