If you want a 3DS, it's probably because of the games available and not because of its horsepower.
Once the Switch accumulates a decent library, it'll definitely be the better choice. However, that may take a year or two. Possibly even longer.

If you absolutely want a Nintendo handheld right now, the 3DS is the better choice. You can pick one up for around $100 ($80 for 2DS), compared to the Switch's $300 price tag, and the library is huge.

My 3DS is old, slow, buggy, scratched, and banned. I was really considering getting a new one, but it's very hard to decide when the life of the system is dwindling.

The switch has no games yet because its new the 3ds does but its not going to be getting any more new games really.

Well no good new games
Your argument here is bullshit. The 3DS scene may be coming to an end soon, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the console just because there aren't many new games.

Obviously, you think that the Switch will be hacked immdiately. It doesn't work that way. Kernel exploits take time to develop. Either way, some people (including myself) still prefer to stay with the 3DS instead of upgrading to a Switch. Just because a new console is out doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the old ones. Think about the NES, SNES, and GameBoy. People are still buying those consoles and there is a strong hacking and homebrew community for them.

Well its not about the hacks when you get a new console its about the games
I still have an NES and I still play the original Super Mario Bros. So do a lot of people

Sure you get more games when you buy a new console, but still some people prefer older ones.

Why do you guys think its a good idea to buy a 6 year old system instead of a weeks old system
Because of already expansive library of games the 3DS has to offer. Coupled with the entire DS library of games, GBA, GBC, GB, etc. all on one system. Which you can easily buy an exploitable one right now.
Seriously, telling people to not buy one is just lessening their chances of buying a new exploitable system.

As I have said previously, I have just recently bought an NES, which is around 34 years old.

Of course, you probably won't be able to comprehend the fact that some people enjoy playing certain games on certain systems. As it has been stated multiple times in this thread, the 3DS already has a large library of games and exclusive games. Some people like the 3DS better than the Switch, so they stay with the 3DS

EDIT: Also, I had an o3ds XL, sold it for a PS3 back in '13 and now I got a N3DS XL and I gotta say, that thing's a powerhouse.
I can literally emulate anything.

At least 3DS doesn't have frame rate drops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Every system does.

Man you're not even sure the switch will ever be hacked why not have the new 3ds now and the new switch 3 years from now when it actually will have many games.

Coming from someone who has a Switch, my n3DS is 10x better and more fun than this stolen tablet.

Until they fix the issues with this crappy device they rushed, the only use I can see would be running code and just doing random junk.
As beautiful as BoTW looks on my Switch, it lags, meanwhile on my Wii-U it's absolutely flawless.

That's some great advice right there and you're right there are literally thousands of projects, one of these day i'm going to get one, so I can get my Dreamcast Online, I don't think she has ever been online before.

well, the Hacking and the mod community might well be the only people keeping Nintendo alive. they might not sell many games but by gawd what a lot of units shifted.
Yes but remember Nintendo makes a loss on every unit sold they only make money back through selling games, marketing etc.. selling the actual console does not bring in much revenue to Nintendo that has always been known same goes for Playstation & Microsoft.
