Having checked the cutscenes I have unlocked, there's no reason to overwrite ANY of the .bars files. All my cutscenes looked fine with the english .bars files in place.

So you haven't had any problems with the regular npc interactions after omitting the japanese .bar files?

I haven't done the .bar fix yet, but in my initial check, Impa, the old man, and Sidon suffered from the same "muteness". The deku tree was fine though, I would've thought he would be broken too.

It seems to me that since other people are having issues with the NPCs after changing .bars to Japanese, keeping them as English would be the best thing. I haven't had any problems either way, but I don't think I've interacted with the NPCs that it affects since I changed mine.

Yep seems like keeping the english .bar files worked. Thanks for the help!

Hey never did anything like this before, but I really want to play it in Japanese with English subtitles. How do I get all of the WUP installer Y mod and can I do this all on my Wii U or do I need to use a computer?

Google the applications you need. You need your computer to unpack/repack the files or to transfer/overwrite them and to set up your SD card.

Depends on how you modded it. No need for CFW if you use the FTP method to overwrite the files when the game is already installed.
I think you still need CFW or signpatching if you use the pack-unpack method.
You need CFW for the SDCafiine method.

I'm using SDCafiine method and works great but has a few lack of voices like when you go with the Rito guy bomb the canons of the flying Dinive Beast and he said something like "That it!" and "One more!". Rito guy says it with English audio but in Japanese there's no audio, just writing. Not a big deal just saying.

Excellent, got it working with the SDcafiine method. I'm getting characters like Impa muted outside of cutscenes though. I gather I need to leave some of the .bars files as English versions, but I'm not sure which. Or do I need to have all the .bars files as the English versions?
