Ok so I decided to think about the possibility of wii games and wiiu games coming to switch. And then it kind of dawned on me. The joy cons literally have everything needed for wii. For a wiimote+nunchuck you can flip the right joy con for ir and then use the left for movement. And then you got the fact that there is gyro in guess what, the right joy con. which games like world of goo uses the right joycon and uses gryo sensing but doesn't use the ir sensor at the bottom, and doesn't require flipping. It was just a concept for those wii games. How funny to have a sensor at the bottom of the right joy con. (I'll have to double check it's usage). But so far this really looks like wii games can show up. However the joy cons would need a redesign of sorts to make button access easier on the right joy con. so pressing buttons is easier. Issue is. Is the switch powerful enough. since The wii and wiiu didn't have to work as hard, because of virtualization, since they were both under the same architecture giving that fancy backwards compatibility. But the switch isn't power pc, its a maxwell. So this means the switch would have to emulate. Which emulation takes more power than virtualization. But then again, the switch is twice as powerful as the wiiu. and the wiiu had two gig bites of ram (I need someone to check that).

So far I just talked about the possibility of just the wii. Wiiu is rather questionable so let me name reasons as why It might not be possible on switch, as in like getting lets say mario kart 8 but not deluxe mario kart 8. first off it failed, second off mario kart deluxe hints at wiiu games just being solely ported to the switch with minor changes. Third the necessary peripheral to do this. Since the switch operates all on that tablet, it would need to mean that it needs some peripheral to make the dock display tv side of the wiiu and the switch tablet displays the well, tablet part of the wiiu. which already looks impossible. Since the dock is only a fancy conversion to the switch for hdmi, and in no shape or form does it physically boost the switch. As the switch itself has that power. Plus already the battery life would consume the switch if it even attmped to do so, unless having some charger. which then means trying to get some addon with usb c, makes that unfeasible. So lets say there was some sort of possiblity that the dock has some tiny proccesing power, and the switch could be charged, and somehow be wireless transmitting a signal. in theory if it could be possible. the usb c port could be used with the switch device itself, while the usb 3.0 part of the dock could be used as a video receiver, which then gets converted into a hdmi output.

It would be pretty neat to play certain wiiu games on switch. But at the time being it would appear as impossible. What are your guys thoughts. Its just speculation, and in no form or way I'm I saying this will or will not happen.

Seems like every decent Wii u game is being remade for switch which in my opinion is awesome. If the switch keeps up it's popularity maybe there will actually be people online to play those games with. My wife and I r actually picking up Lego city which was an exclusive but now it has co op and boosted graphics.

We've already got World of Goo. Don't even need to flip the right joycon, it uses gyroscopes for point detection
I already point that out. but I said the flipping because of games that don't use the gryo sensor. like older wii games.

Any Wii games that came to the switch would be ported. Not emulated (Switch not powerful enough), or virtualized (totally different architecture)
I kind of pointed that out as well. I never said yes the switch could emulated it, as I'm unsure of the hardware.

No you didn't. You specifically said that "the Switch would have to emulate". It wouldn't be able to emulate; games will need to be ported.

Most of the good games that the WiiU had don't need a "Deluxe" release but god damn, Super Smash Bros. needs one very very badly. I remember checking out the DLC content on the eShop and it was a huuuuuge pile, so much so it made me wish Nintendo had made a "Season Pass" to get it all under one package.

"Super Smash Bros. 4: Deluxe" needs to happen.

I really hope if they do remaster games, it won't just be only one game like the countless Ocarina of Time remasters. I'd like to see a collection of sorts, like a Fire Emblem collection. Not too keen on paying full price for a remaster of a single game when I can probably find a used copy for the Wii/WiiU for much cheaper at a game store. However, I'll take a remaster of Monster Hunter Tri just so I can have a great portable hunter game.

If they release WiiU games on the Switch as a physical release (i.e., more important than an eShop release) it won't be a "remaster" because graphically the Switch isn't much different than the WiiU, only a partial upgrade (make the game compatible with the Joy-Cons/Pro Controller) which is what they'd do.

Second screen isn't a thing anymore! Thank god!

So what if they ported a wii game? like lets say super mario galaxy. and made it in hd. What would you think
The Joy-Cons are basically Wiimotes 2.0 so they would just have to upgrade the controls and remaster the game in high definition.

Would it be possible to emulate the original Wii on the Switch? I'd rather be playing Wii Sports than 1-2 Switch (got a Wii but it would be cool being portable)

Only the Wii games with no aiming right? Ones with just motion sure but like, we have the Wii version of Prime Trilogy on Wii U and we wouldn't be able to aim right? But I think the joycons would work well for like, skyward sword. Motion control in Breath feels pretty nice to me. But yea there are a bunch of games we wouldn't be able to play that are actually really good.

Check out World of Goo. The gyroscopes do a pretty good job of making it feel like you're pointing at the screen
