Hacking Corrupted Health&Safety - Restoring Original Didn't Fix

Hi, I've got this weird issue with my New 3DS XL with A9LH+Luma. It's got a Region Changed EmuNAND. I followed this guide to region change, and when I injected FBI to restore my tickets like normal, I downloaded FBI from TitleDB, but I got an error after it installed (Top screen said FATAL and a bunch of error codes and bottom screen said Hold down the power button to blah blah blah). So i rebooted my 3DS and saw that the Health and Safety icon at the bottom screen was just a black square and had no banner (I'm scared to launch it). I restored my original HS.app and still the same thing. Any ideas?

Delete home menu folder from extdata, search for correct folder based on region here:

1. Clear Home Menu’s extdata by navigating to the following folder on your SD card: /Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)/(32 Character ID)/extdata/00000000/
   • EUR Region: Delete 00000098
   • JPN Region: Delete 00000082
   • USA Region: Delete 0000008f
   • KOR Region: Delete 000000A9

In my Nintendo 3DS folder I have 2 32 Char ID folders with similar subfolders; which extdata folder do I delete

You have to find out which one is your emunand. Are SysNAND and EmuNAND different regions?

Also don't delete the whole extdata folder, just the sub folder of the home folder within it.

No, but I region changed the EmuNAND to Japanese then back to USA as a "test" (don't ask.)

And also, one of the extdata\000000 folders has much more subfolders than the other

Ok, hmmm. I think you can delete both, backup both just in case. This essentially just refreshes the cashe for the home menu. May need to reset theme if one was set.

Remember just delete home folder not all extdata. Refer to my first post.

Try deleting the corrupt hs app with fbi. Then do a system update. Before u ask, yes, even on latest firm, sys update should fix it. I've seen ppl told to do that on the 3ds homebrew discord and they say it indeed restores hs app. U really need to install the fbi cia too.

Did you even read the OP? I was injecting FBI because i didn't have it installed. I'm also on latest firmware version.

This was gonna be my suggestion but he doesn't have FBI installed as a CIA, I was going to walk him through doing this via homebrew.

Download FBI 3dsx and place it in sd:3DS folder

Boot holding select and enable the following setting in Luma config "Patch SVC/service/archive/ARM9 access"

This allows FBI nand access from homebrew menu, so boot homebrew then select FBI

Then delete H&S app and perform system update.

Try installing from the cia on github instead of titledb.

It doesn't matter, it will look at firmware and notice H&S missing and install it
