Ok, the weapons don't last very long, and it's a way for Nintendo to encourage players to use different weapons and be creative...fine. Not a bad idea (though I agree with a comment I read suggesting they should last about double what they do). That said, I find that often I'm fighting a bunch of enemies, and my weapon breaks at just the wrong time, and all of a sudden I'm empty handed and get hit or killed because my attack button suddenly becomes useless. Because the rhythm of the fight is broken it messes up whatever fighting action I was trying to pull off at the time (it's like the old street fighter 2 cheat of hitting the pause button to screw up your opponents timing on their attack or combo, really pisses me off!)

So I was thinking, why not patch the game, simply bringing up a weapon automatically when one breaks. You could select your top 3 choices, and then it would bring up your top choice, and then your next and next, as each item breaks in battle. If you don't bother ranking weapons, it could just bring up any weapon at random. What do you guys think? Should I email this to Nintendo?

Auto bringing up a weapon kind of ruins the fun for me, personally when a weapon breaks I'm so fast to start switching I don't get hit during that time frame, there's a reason we have those warnings, so we can get ready to switch when needed.

Bringing up any weapon at random is a bad idea, I have axes and drillshafts which are purely for their intended use, if it brought those out and broke them, I'd be annoyed.

The thing about "bringing up your top choice" simply depends on how your inventory is laid out, there's no way to personally sort it yourself afaik other than using cheats and switching values and stuff, so say I have the master sword in that slot while it's still charging, it'd be useless.

it's not random, because in my hypothetical patch, you can turn the auto-weapon switch ON or OFF, get it? For the same reason, it's not forced on anyone that doesn't want it. Futher, It's not random, because you can select an order of preference...if 1 is not functional, it falls to number 2, etc. Get it?

If you get hit after being warned that a weapons is about to break then that's your own fault lol what, are you just spamming the attack button non stop?

A steel forged weapon breaks after a couple uses...really? That's MY fault?

Just fought one of these Ganon tribe members, went through 5 frickin' weapons. It's stupid. I'm sure as hell not taking the blame for this flawed game mechanic.

Blame lays at Big N's feet for this, up to them to fix it!

Well to be honest, the game warns you BEFORE your weapon breaks, and you see it EXPLODING IN PIECES when it breaks. My first reflex when I see my weapon breaking is to immediately press the weapon selection key, and that works perfectly that way. So if you say you're stuck with no weapon in hand at this moment, well, you did not give enough attention to it. Even if you're out of weapon, there's still arrows or the environement to back you up. So if you get stuck in a fight with nothing to protect you, at this point you weren't ready to even engage the fight at first :P

Use strategy rather then a single weapon. Shoot a fire arrow into the grass, use the updraft to glide high, pull out your bow and shoot him in the face a few times with a shock arrow, land, hit him a few times while hes stunned, then use a thunder rod to stun him again so he drops his weapon (if he didn't already drop it), quickly grab it, use his weapon against him, freeze him with an ice rod, switch to a hammer and then shatter him. Didn't break a single weapon, strategy.

It'd be cool if weapons didn't break due to regular combat and were just harder to get.

Like, hitting a sword against a rock or enemy armor? Fine. That would break one. But slashing a Chuchu shouldn't.

If your weapon is about to break, just throw that weapon to the guy that you're trying to kill. If he's a small enemy they will drop their weapon giving you enough time to run, pick up his weapon and beat the shit out of him with his own weapon.

id be cool if you could dodge attacks like in monster hunter

I'm finding the dodge left right mechanic far less useful than in previous zelda games. Either they are so big and have such a sweeping attack, that it's useless, or there are so many enemies to fight at once that a jump to the left or right just puts me into range of being hit by someone else.

I think it is a bad idea, because it leads to the "megalixer" problem, where I don't want my good weapons to break, so I don't use them, saving them for a future when I need them that may never come while instead I just use the crap weapons enemies drop.
