Hacking Haxchi/Homebre Channel problems and a couple other ?'s

I am in the process of making my Wii U a coldboot softmod. I was really into the Wii scene back in the day and have also done 2 3DS systems, so I am fairly competent at this.

I am following FlimFlam69's tutorial on GitHub. Here's my biggest problem thus far.
It reads, to the effect of:

"Install Haxchi over your DS VC game".
*This was successful, no errors.

"Run Haxchi. It will cycle back to the system menu at which point you are running HaxchiFW. Now launch Haxchi again, holding B to boot into WUP Installer Mod Y. Install Homebrew Launcher Channel."
*When I run Haxchi the first time, it boots right into Homebrew Launcher instead of going back to the SysMenu. If I run WUP installer Y and try to install Homebrew Channel Luncher I get "Not a game, DLC, blah blah..."

So whats the deal here? I am 95% I have all the right files in all the right places. Everything was downloaded from GitHub, newest versions. Is HaxchiFW not running correctly, thus not allowing me to run unsigned titles (HBC)?

I already bought the DS game, so I would really like to get to coldbooting Haxchi as my Homebrew method. Should I try MochCFW to install HBC?

Can I move onto installing Coldboot Haxchi and see if that resolves it? This concerns me because Im not 100% that Haxchi is working the way it should.

After failing several times I decided to move on to installing my first game using WUP Mod Y. BotW via Wii U USB helper. I got "Possible bad or missing Title.tik". Its def there and I even tried downloading the ticket from that site and manually putting it into the game folder. Same deal.

As a side note, after screwing around for about 2 hours with this I put my SD card back into my computer to put a different game in my install folder for WUP Y and the SD wont read. Seems to have been corrupted. I will be moving all my files to another card after work but I am have a feeling it wont change anything.

Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the text wall.

Yeah, the guide you used is outdated. FIX changed the order in later versions of haxchi. As jbuck said, change your config file and re-install. Default should be set to sysmenu if you just want to click haxchi to start it with sigpatches.

No need for mocha if you have haxchi - that would just be a waste of time.

Try a different SD card. Also check none of your files are 0 bytes. I got one file with zero bytes (bad download) with USB helper and it screwed the install. Ended up using nusgrabber to download. Also you can get the ticket from that titlekeys site. And you can now download the update also from NUS with proper title key.

Outdated?! Damn, it said it had been updated 5 hours prviously. Oh well, thanks for the advice guys I'll give that a shot.

And ill prob try grabbing BotW with another prog. Is this going to be a consistent problem with Wii USB Helper? I had 100+ GB queued up when I went to bed last night

Make sure you remember to reinstall haxchi, after you altered the config file. That one had me scratching my head for a while. The config that you write has to be baked into haxchi when it's installed, I think. You can't just alter it like a normal config file on the fly

I have used usb download helper to download and install over 250 games and they all work perfectly.

Me to for 99.9% but of this one I had an issue. Just a blip, might be nothing to do with helper, but I nearly always use nusgrabber anyway.

OK, so maybe its updated, but then its WRONG. Duh! By default haxchi goes to HBL. That's why he needs to change his config file it he wants to, by default, go to sysmenu.

I know what he meant by haxchiFW. I'm not a dumbass.

Lets try and keep it simple.

Haxchi allows you to boot to HBC easily. By default it does this (latest version). If you hold down B by default it reboots to sysmenu with sig patches. You can then always start Haxchi again and it will take you to HBC.

If you want yo change the default, you change the config text e.g. default=sysmenu and then re-install haxchi (just run the installer again, no need to uninstall and redownload DS game). Now you click haxchi and it reboot backs to sysmenu with sig patches. You should set other buttons to boot HBC or any other app you may want. I set mine this way - makes it kid proof.

Finally got home from work to try it out. I've figured out how to work haxchi (I know get the Nobel comittee on the phone..).

However, it still wont install homebrew channel launcher. I get "title 00000000-00000000 failed...not a game, DLC, update, bleh". Im saying eff it, i realize launching haxchi does the same thing.

Now im off to load some games. Got the first one going now.
