I was going to buy a Switch not long after launch. but I have seen a lot of bad feedback relating to the performance of the machine. People talking about the dock scratching the screen. The joy-con being unresponsive and a nightmare to move. Dead pixels already (less than a week from launch). And screen glitches. Who else thinks this is unacceptable? If these problems are not addressed why should we spend that kind of money when we can all wait for the console to fail through non third-party support and technical failure and buy a cheap pre-owned console?

I guess most people do not have any Problems but yeah I am actually waiting for some kind of Switch+ or Switch lite or whatever hoping to be save ...
plus when reading that Zelda has frame drops from 30 to sometimes only 20 when docked I am a little bit unsure about Nintendo's Quality Management, they should have probably waited a little bit longer to fix issues like this.
It is impossible not to notice if they would have put 1 or 2 people up for betatesting. You can even see the frame drops without the need of any analysing tools

The "bugs" some have are rather normal nowadays (sadly) still I am discouraged to buy stuff that has many flaws, thats why I don't buy games at release anymore as it is getting worse every time and as long as people like us are stupid enough to accept it they will go on and on until sometime in the future the people are angry enough to completely boycot anything that has gamebreaking flaws.

No problems with mine. There is an option to stop the switch changing input on your TV. Match TV something. Just disable it.

The dock scratching it is unfortunate because I'm at my 100+ docking with no marks. Maybe the glass is better on mine than on others. Maybe finger oils caused the screen to get a sludge that scratched it docking, I just figured they were careless.

I just chose the option nearest to what I plan to do, but:
I will get one, and will expect it may fail, in which case I will just make Nintendo replace it if it can't be fixed by firmware updates, long life to European forced 2 year warranty.

PS: Screen scratching is not a problem I would be disgusted about, that is life, I expect it. What I would consider a problem is: frequent crashing, artifacts, joycon synching problems, game not being read, etc. Real problems.

the slow-downs aren't experienced by everyone. I've only experienced one, and that was in handheld while doing something i won't be able to do again. I mean, it's still concerning, but I wouldn't assume the breadth of the problem extends to every console. Most people aren't going to say anything unless something went wrong, yeah? I mean, it's still a problem that needs to be fixed.

I saw an image of the flanges on the switch base, that some of them were angled a bit and not completely straight. Some thought that may be a contributing factor. mine isn't scratching at all, so mine's fine. Or perhaps it's all down to technique?

No. I have seen some forums doesn't have an issues with this problems at all. They might have their NS happening to have a problem. Not everyone. Just buy it and see if it doesn't have a problem or not. That's all.

So what a 1.000 units have defects (maybe even less), on a total of 2.000.000. Means 2% is faulty and will be replaced by Nintendo. That doesn't seem like a high percentages for new hardware. I am just waiting to buy one when new games are released. I can (and am) play Zelda en Mario Kart on WiiU, so no point in spending 329 euro for a swithc (+money for games).

I wouldn't say crappy, I would just say very thin... It's like a game and half worth.
That is a good reason to postpone tbh.
Yep, plus if its like 3DS they'll drop in price too. Frankly i'm waiting til we get a non detachable joycons & non dockable version. Hopefully with a hefty price reduction like 2DS has :D I just don't have any interest in those two functions.

My Switch preorder arrived on launch day, and has been sitting new in box ever since. I'm torn between keeping, flipping, or just returning it. There's just not much there for a day one purchase (except Zelda), and that's just not enough for me. Maybe I'll rebuy it a year from now when all the kinks have been hopefully ironed out.

No problem with my switch so need to wait or exchange anything.
Think of how many switchs have been sold and how many have problems. Also how many people are really having problems and how many are faking problems.
Look at the cnet kick stand video

1000 / 2000000 isn't 2%

In any case, 2% would be considered an abject failure. Goal is to be at the 6 sigma level (99.99966% being defect free).

I think generally, I need to avoid buying nintendo's 1st iteration of a console. The N3DS XL was great, the original stunk.
