First, wanted to say the GBAtemp scene has been an awesome place to learn all things homebrew! With that, today I was finally able to homebrew my WiiU with Haxchi.

Now, considering the type of person I am, I like things to be organized and identifiable. As such, I went around my WiiU starter pack install and wanted to personalize the Haxchi description bubble. I thought it would be a fun and helpful project so I can understand what it does when interacting with it from the Home Menu.

Well, playing around and having it uninstalled and reinstalled, I found out this can work!

I understand this may not be some giant breakthrough or anything. But what got me concerned was another member on discord brought up an idea that a long enough naming scheme may "soft-brick" the WiiU. I searched but couldn't find any information regarding that. So that means either, there's no threat or this could be something undiscovered. Either way, I was wary.

It worked with 2 lines but the description length wasn't enough for me. I took a jump at 6 lines and I can report the console works just as fine.

Here it is again in a folder and having its bubble cropped.

Again, I understand this may not be giant but I'd like to share what I came across and possible enlighten those who were curious.

Thanks for reading!

Don't want to put a damper on your nice hard work but you do know you can install all these via loading channels with the correct icons to show you on the main menu its homebrew launcher, wupinstaller, loadiine etc.. what your using is really obsolete now and has been for a while!

Haxchi is not obselete, lol... you still need a way to patch signatures before starting the channels and instead of "launching haxchi -> patching sigs -> launching channel" you can just chainload faster into e.g. HBL with Haxchi.

Nice work btw., I was wondering if there's a specific limit, 6 lines are more than enough for me :)

I've gone about this in completely different manner.
Haxchi lets you customize it's files. This though is only for people who know the TGA formats and basic photoshop or similar editor programs.

my end result was the following, TV and gamepad screen having a different image

video evidence

This way you can have swag, and a good way to tell you what to launch and how.

Damn, that's awesome. Mind uploading it?

haxchi is absolete since cbhc exists lol why use haxchi when you can turn that ds title into cbhc and then get auto sigpatches on boot up and then you can install channels for everything you want? xD

and before anyone saying cbhc will brick like an idiot, the only way to brick with cbhc 1.6 is to format your console or if your nand somehow gets all corrupted.

CBHC IS Haxchi, so haxchi is not obsolete. Coldboot Haxchi just modifies your system.xml. So in the end, you just use Haxchi, but autoboot into it. And not everyone wants to install CBHC (especially not when there's currently not an easy way to make a NAND backup).

Sorry for late reply.
There is issue that the content is technically... Well, quite actually copyrighted I would think - assets of a game basically. Even if this would be gray enough to be OK for GBAtemp, I currently lent out my SD card to a friend so he can install few things out of it, so he does not have to find a SD card big enough and all the apps setup right. That still has my haxchi files on it so I can't zip them up right now.
