Hi guys. I apologize first for being a complete noob regarding 3ds cfws, but I'm looking for some help.

I haven't touched my 2ds with arm9loader hack and luma since October (following instructions on github for 9.2.0 I guess). Yesterday I fired it up and thought to check new updates. So I went to system update, installed, but after restart I get a black screen with SD and if I take it out it just flashes blue led near a power button for a sec and stops. I can load into luma settings and Hourglass though thanks to a9lh. What should I do to get it back into working state? Just recover from backup with the sysnand that I extracted during the last steps of a9lh setting up process? Do I need something else to do? What is the latest firmware that I can update to and what should I do? Appreciate your help.

Thanks, will try. So no need to recover sysnand? Just update luma?
the new system menu update checks for native firm the new luma patches native firm on the fly so it alone should be enough . . . although people say to update luma before updating firmware so you may indeed end up needing to recover that nand backup as well . . . but first update luma and see if that works

So I replaced the arm9loaderhax.bin with the one from 6.6 luma zip. Configured, saved and it loaded. Then I went to the system settings to look at my version and it was 11.3. I then pressed close and it stuck on black screen again. So I turned it of, wanted to replace a9lh.bin again and now my pc says that there's some problem with sd. Did I do something wrong?

i thought it would be enough . . . looks like you need that nand

huh? sounds like an error on your pc's end try another port/sd reader. . .

edit: if the above does not work
so if you have a backup of your sd its no problem reformat the card copy your sd backup
if you dont have a sdcard backup then this should help to restore the sd
[Tutorial] A9LH Users: Recover From Formatted/Deleted SD Card
you just need the files in the correct places then insert your nand backup to the 9files folder load hourglass9 and restore sysnand from your backup selecting the keep a9lh option

Could be the SD card looks like, weird. I reformatted the card and put the required files back from the backup on PC and loaded into the system. Seems to work fine now? Went in and out of setting menu and turned it on/off.

i assume you mean luma settings and not the system settings . . . anyway i would try replacing your luma related files again i think your pc did not copy them properly the first time
After formatting, redownloading backup files on SD it loaded and I went to the the System settings in firmware. Is that forbidden? Turning on and off - I mean the 2ds on and off. It didn't blackscreen. I had to format the sd as it was saying the path is corrupted after the first time I tried to update a9lh.bin from luma 6.6 when it loaded but then got stuck on black screen.

So I've just updated the hb_launcher loader and installed lumaupdate. Will there by any benefit in updating al9h?

Anyway man, thanks again as I was in panic yesterday :D

no problem i just assumed you were in need of further assistance there but your up and running . . . good
and as far as benefit in upgrading a9lh that depends on your current a9lh setup the latest version has you install armloaderhax.bin to ctr nand so you can boot without the sd card other than that its beyond me and also still advised to do so . . .lol

Alright, will follow the instructions to update al9h. Seems simple enough and having ability to load without sd looks useful. Thanks!

I think if you update ReiNAND it will work, I heard it got updated. However if you're going to do that you may as well use Luma, it'll be the same process for a better result.

I'm currently running 11.2 with Luma, fbi, freeshop. If I want to update to 11.3 would I need to update Luma first? Do I update to 6.6 or nightly? Or should I stay on 11.2 for now?

Thing is , the videos work fine in the Edge Dev and Canary builds. But whatever the fix they made was, has never been pushed to Beta or Stable builds. Its been that way for as far back as I tested. Which was Edge 84. They are on 125 now.

@RedColoredStars, Yeah, and I was in quite a mood at that time. I would consider choosing Firefox or Opera instead, been using Firefox for over 7 years now than Chrome.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Tried contacting Nintendo to see if they can reach out to MS about it. But Nintendo said the videos are working fine. Without enough people saying no, they don't work fine, it will never get fixed.

I have Firefox and used it for many years. But Edge runs noticible faster on my pc at both opening and loading pages.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't think Nintendo will know anything about troubleshooting Edge. They mostly do technical support regarding their console family.

Right. But they could create a ticket that gets forwarded to the proper team. I think Nintendo would care that their videos aren't working on a major browser
