I just got my fat downgraded to 3.55 and I'm a little confused as the guides don't seem to be real clear to me (says more about me than the guides). Can someone give a quick guide for dummies on how to jailbreak it? I think I want rebug and CEX from my understanding whatever's easiest.

To explain what I want to do almost all of my games that I'm wanting are already on disc I just want to rip them to an external hdd and be able to play them without having to change discs and get the saves from the other system if possible. However there are a few games that I've downloaded that I also want to add to my PS3. Please walk a semi retarded individual through what to do. :)

Get a CFW then use it to update. It's like an official update over USB. Remove disc in drive first.

Download a CFW. I use rebug. Get the .pup file and rename it PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Get a flash drive and place the .pup file in
Usb: PS3\UPDATE\
On your PS3 update the console through the physical media option.

Get an USB stick and create some folders PS3/UPDATE. Then go to rebug.me and download the latest CEX Firmware "REX COBRA 7.5 EDITION". Place the file inside the newly created folders and plug it into the right USB port at your PS3.
Then disable the Internet connection from your PS3 - just to be safe, and update your Firmware through the update menu.

The PS3 first looks at the disc for update data (when in recovery mode) before it looks at the usb and if the disc has an OFW on it then he will be on OFW.
Oh interesting I never knew that I was thinking it would wipe this disc when he said to leave it out

For games, I would recommend a big Internal HDD. Some games don't work on external HDDs.

Dang I already bought that one that I posted the link. Is there a compatibility list somewhere or? That's a bummer.

Although it is a 160 gb PS3 but that won't last long.

From what I'm reading isn't it just game install data that has to be internal? I haven't been able to find anywhere that says certain games won't work at all from external.

Ps2 games need to be internal or they won't play
All PS3 games will work from external
Use USB 2 not 3 unless it's backwards compatible and any hdd's over 2tb need to be old drives
New ones use a new type of drive mapping that messes it's file size up if you try to force format it

Ok as for multiman I downloaded multiMAN_04.81.02_BASE_(20170108).pkg.129.v04.81.02_brewology_com.pkg. Do I just put it like that on the usb drive?
