Isn't there a way to reprogram/add something in the WiiU booting process, so when it starts to read a game and game is gone (CBHC game) is gone, after one or a couple of tries it goes to the normal system menu?
Not currently. If we could hook into the boot process earlier, like we can on the Wii, then we wouldn't need a hacked game at all. We'd use the web exploit, run iosuhax, make changes to the boot process to add patching, and be done.

I'm interested in CBHC. If Haxchi runs fine [No crashes etc.] then can i install CBHC without risking brick?
Also, i don't understand USB part. Whenever i unplug my pendrive while being in HBL, it instantly shows me that lovely error message about USB storage.

You can disconnect your USB drive before you boot up, then test Haxchi one last time (which will prove that it's on NAND) and install CBHC.

CBHC Installer won't even show USB titles

BTW... with the latest version it installs even with the USB plugged in

Hey guys, I have Haxchi installed on my NAND and I am trying to get vWii hacked too. Do I still need to hack the vWii using a Wii game + save hack or is there an easier way now that the WiiU has Haxchi installed? Thanks! Just got back into this stuff after being away for ~10 years.

Guys I'm trying to boot without a gamepad. I realize I can change the meta.xml of the DS game to run without gamepad but the Pro controller is not able to choose the actions of haxchi and only boots the default. Is CBHC gamepadless-friendly? I'm afraid to install it and get stuck.

If I just install Haxchi, is it region free and sigpatched as soon as I launch Haxchi? Will I need to run anything else in order to run games installed to the USB?

I haven't been in the loop with Haxchi for a while, but in my time, you needed to ensure that your configuration file contained "default=sysmenu" or something like that to boot Haxchi's region and signature patches.

When running the Haxchi installer, it pulls data from sd:/haxchi, including the configuration file, FIX94 posted a link to the example configuration data somewhere.

I screwed up on this step:

3. Do NOT reinstall and overwrite your NDS game using WUP Installer! Beware of batch installation !

There's any known way to solve the issue? The console power on and imediatly gives me the 160-0103 error =(

You can attempt doing 'hard-mod' although you will need another Wii U to dump clean files. [To swap, those files aren't available anywhere so don't google it]

Just a question. I have CBHC installed on my wii u and my version is 5.5.1 (CBHC make it 99.99.99) and i have a system update that want to be downloaded but it is blocked by the DNS. Is it really a system update? Because the latest is still 5.5.1. I dont want to downlaod it and brick my wii u. Maybe its because of breath of the wild because i had it on my wii u.

So any anwers is appreciated. ;)

I never played BOTW, but from what I've heard that message is supposed to mean you need to update the game itself, not your system.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is it correct that you can't ever play the NDS game you exploited?
As in I bought a Pokémon Ranger game and would like to actually play it, but now I can't since I used it to perform the exploit?

you replaced the game (ROM image, rom.zip) with the homebrew (also named, rom.zip).
your game is no longer installed.

if you want to play it, you can delete the game (you will need to first uninstall CBHC if you installed it instead of using only Haxchi).
Then download the game again from eShop.

If you want both the game AND haxchi, you can copy (NOT MOVE) the game to USB before installing haxchi.
Disconnect USB when installing Haxchi or CBHC.

When USB is connected, it will be the game which launches. USB has priority.
When USB is disconnected, it will be haxchi/CBHC which launches.
note that you will require USB removed when booting the console if you installed CBHC!

Attention to any wrong step! you can brick your console if you don't follow proper step's order.

a few questions: does the virtual wii work with cbhc? I ask because the virtual wii doesn't work with redNAND. also, what happens if u accidentally click on the coldboot haxchi title while in the system menu? with mocha, does the system scan through ustealth? I compiled the latest version of mocha, and it was able to scan through ustealth...possibly to get around the normal system menu and scan for fat32 content.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    nvm it does support mine
