Hello,

I downloaded Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer. It's japanese. I have Luma 6.6 on my 3DS, the patch games automatically is checked and I've set up the folder locales in the luma folder on my SD card + in the folder I created a .txt file with the title ID of the game... inside I wrote JPN JP as guided on the Luma GitHub website.

The game crashes at start and restarts my console.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Hmm weird, luma's supposed to be regionfree. I think the Luma locales is more to fix things like the ingame keyboard if it doesn't automatically has 1 in the games region already. I think the game installation might be corrupted, if it doesn't boot & crashes like that.

Well the AC New Leaf works if you run it trough Hans, but the Home Designer doesn't. So the games are not corrupted, they need the language support, but I've done everything like the manual says. (Well they don't have that language setting there anymore and they've replaced it with "patch games automatically" or something like that)

You actually don't even need Hans with Luma nowdays.-.-' Hans is more for people, without cfw that use homebrew only. Even without Hans the game should at least boot even without locale for most games! I play Japanese games too & I actually didn't have to use Luma locale much.:s Also I was talking about Homedesigner before as you didn't mention New Leaf that's a different game, so that 1 is properly installed. try booting in it Luma without Hans & you'll get what I meant. It's still possibke something went wrong with AC HHD during it's installation.

Well the game boots and all, gets stuck on the first frame though and drops me a message that the system has to reset. :/
I saw a thread on Reddit where the guy had the same issue, but he solved it. He has the wrong title ID in locales, but I uses the same one (looked it up with FBI).

Ic, if you have FBI boot it up & install the luma locale app via titledb. After that boot it up & then select the game in it & setup everything the way you want it. It easier than manually typing ID's. If that doesn't fix it then I think your game's corrupted & reinstalling is your bet.

It's not corrupted if you can start it trough Hans with Homebrew. And I already did all of that. -.-' Would not ask for help if it wasn't something stupid going on ...
You can try it if you have freeshop and let me know the result.

Did you even read my posts properly? Read your 1st post & tell me how AC NL is relevant? You even were as rude as to suggest that I'd install a game illegaly to see if I'd have the same problem in other to help you solve it, while it's obviously not allowed on this forum. The answer I gave is a possible solution/reason why your game might not work in general while playing out of region games/crashes like that. I had crashes like that & sometimes reinstall worked, which is why I said it's possible that something got corrupted.Sometimes it's also a dying SD that can cause problems. So I'd check that too.

Is there even an JP version of HHD on the freeshop? (not that I care as I don't use it) Did you check with version you've installed properly? You didn't mention anything about trying to downloading the Luma locale app via FBI as I suggested. In that case I can't help you any further goodluck solving this!

It matters because it was a game that was working (same region, with same settings).

I didn't know discussing that is not allowed, since the hacking of the 3DS / installing CFW isn't really legal until the developer of the software says it is (Nintendo in this case).

Anyhow you were suggesting something I told you that I already tried, and that I would not ask silly questions (the reinstalling is one of the basics you do, and the first any human thinks of).

I didn't want to argue, thanks for the suggestions, it's solved now !

Good you that you've managed to solved it!:) And no before I posted that suggestion I hadn't seen anywhere in your post that you already tried it/wasn't clear to me (or else I wouldn't have suggested it), as you only said that you tried running the game through Hans & that it worked for AC:NL, but not AC:HHD. I meant with AC:NL not being relevant was that you asked about another game at first & mentioned using HANS a totally different homebrew & hax compared to the Luma CFW + Locale switcher app. Suddenly the focus was all about the other game "AC:NL" that was working on Hans instead of AC:HHD which was the game you asked help for I didn't want to argue either. I was actually just trying to be considerate & help you properly as things started to become confusing for me! Which why I suggested things & used words like "might be corrupted" instead of your game is corrupted you should try reinstalling & see if it works. If I had know reinstalling hadn't worked I'd ask more ofcourse.

Also not everyone tries simple things as reinstalling etc. Please keep in mind that there're also people that aren't that advanced users, so they'll ask about questions you might consider silly as they're still trying to learn it's alot of info afterall & simple things might turn out not to be as simple as thought.

Another thing is that the games are different as in that they also require different firmware to work, so that also could've been an issue if you were running the game on like fw 9.2. You also didn't give any info regarding your fw, system etc. Do you get my point a bit now?

So here's a tip
Next time you need help, please also mention your system firmware, everything you tried etc. It can help solve things faster & prevent miscommunications like we had + others that might've this issue later could also properly see a possible solution! And after you solved it, it'd be nice to edit the opening post with the solution that helped for you. I think I'll try doing the same, it saves alot of reading/searching through posts.^^
.
Installing cfw on your 3ds/ hacking, modding your 3ds is not really illegal either, but downloading/pirating commercial games you haven't bought /backuped yourself legally is. Talking about how/where to get them (pm's not allowed either), telling others to pirate, links to commercial .cia/3ds/any other files that're protected under copyright etc. is forbidden on this forum.

I think plenty of people got bans, because they confused talking about legal backups with illegally obtained games. In your case you're supposed to be talking about a game you purchased legally. So, please be careful in future I wouldn't mention where you got the game on this forum, unless you got it legally ofcourse. (I'd also edit my 1st post a bit if I were you) ;)

Freeshop is now an "illegal" homebrew app & it was DCMA'ed because it contained copyrighted Nintendo code + made it possible for people to illegally obtain games etc. I think I read the creators made it unavailable after that DCMA, hence my reaction.

P.S I decided not to PM you because it's better if it's in the open to prevent other people making the same mistake. It happens pretty often, because a lot of people don't read the full agreements etc. When they sign up.

Thanks for the notice.

I'm not used to the "no piracy" things [emoji28] because my country does not prosecute you for it, unless it's stolen authorized work worth more than 5.000 € (so if you actually have a site it's illegal or if you install pirate software for other people as a service, you can go to jail, if you use it for your own purposes it's ok).

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.

Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
