Homebrew [WIP] ResidualVM 3DS - Myst III: Exile and Grim Fandango

I'm attempting to port some game engines from ResidualVM to the 3DS.

Started with Myst III: Exile and will probably move on to Grim Fandango too eventually.

This will be N3DS exclusive homebrew due to CPU demands. I'll release build and source code when it's more playable. There is a lot of lag in many portions of the game due to slow video decoding. I doubt I'll be able to get it running at full speed, but we'll see.

However, support for Riven in ScummVM is unfinished. It would have to be working on mainline ScummVM before you could expect much progress on the 3DS side. OMG! Here's hoping you get this running smoothly. I love the myst series and would never have guessed myst 3 would be possible on 3ds, even considering how old the game is. Great work so far! Makes me wish even more for more pc game ports. Morrowind and Oblivion would be great! I know That's just a dream tho.

Oh my god Morrowind on 3DS... I'd pay $$ for that definitely!

Now, just to dream a bit more... Imagine a 3D remastered version officially released by Bethesda... Drool

I used to go "skydiving" - levitating as high as possible, facing the ground, and waiting for the time to elapse. How fun/scary would that be with 3D

Yeah, even then I'm not sure how well I'll get it working on 3DS.

I still have the game you sent me, but I doubt I'll ever get time to look at it. Too bad.

Damn, i forgot about who was working on this. Guess we can say with 100% certainty this project is dead. Portable myst 3 would've been great.

Maybe possibly probably ask for this in a homebrew request thread? I really really wanted this, but then I realized that quite a few pc indie games can run properly on the 3DS, but cannot be played due to not being ported. Maybe something something indie/oldie but goldie request thread to be made?

A request thread sounds good, but who would have the skills or even care enough about these games to start or continue the project? I'm thinking this was a solo project and the files weren't shared with anyone, so it would have to be made from scratch. Also, after 20 years, i still won't want anything to do with him or things he released.

Well yeah, solo project for sure since no one popped up with the project's files. Hopefully a homebrew/indie general request thread to be made with the OP being updated constantly with requests, as to who will pick a project should be updated in the OP and those should be properly contacted if others wish to contribute etc etc. Whoever can, is and will work on what they wish for, as to will there ever be someone to work on them is a really good question.

I support this idea and think it would deserve to be stickied. Like the translation requests thread, but for homebrew.
