The console is on 11.2 with a9lh and it is a new 3ds XL with a9lh. The problem is wobbly hinges

if you make a nand backup,, you can restore it with a hardmod or dsiwarehax after nintendo upgrades it. I would assume though you don't have access to a hardmod or a second 3ds with cfw.

Get a9lh and use the Kecleon patch. This makes your console appear completely stock. Assuming they won't replace the motherboard or the whole console, if they update it won't hurt anything.

Here's the answer to your question:

- They do DEFINITELY update the console when you send it for repairs.
- If it is stock, they will accept it no problem.
- If it has any type of homebrew/CFW installed (A9LH is included), they will refuse to accept it and will send it back to you. If it is just the HBL with a few emulators or whatever, just take out the SD card

If your hinge is wobbly and not broken and you don't want to risk Nintendo messing with your setup make your own bushing and insert it in the slits that hold the screen up I did that on my old 3DS because I didn't like that the hinge would move around and now it is very solid I could rock my system back and forth and the top screen will not move at all

That's normal, and intended behavior. They made it that way to not put as much stress on the hinge resulting in cracked hinges.

If you are worried about the case being damaged, you can buy a new case for your 3DS. As well there's most likely several UK based members of the Temp that you can send it to. There are several hardmod installers on the Temp, so chances are there is someone also willing to do case repairs if you provide the parts.

Yeah they are supposed to be that way so it has wiggle room. Before the plastic over the hinges were cracking because the flush was too tight.

Also if you ever need to get one repaired, most cell phone/computer repair shops will also repair console hardware. Just ask them. And they won't update your 3DS if you tell them not to, they usually don't even mess with your system other than to test the new hardware.
