Hi guys!

I have a New3DS with SysNand at 9.2 with menuhax and EmuNand at 11.2. I'm considering move to ARM9LH. However, I'm bit confused.

1) Do I need just to follow this guide? https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

2) Do I need to delete something from my SDCard (menuhax files) before starting?

3) I don't need put my SysNand at 11.2 to use the newest arm9loaderhax method, right?

4) Is there any chance of bricking? I mean, not by mistakes, but for the system itself. Is it chance bigger than downgrading, for example?

Thanks a lot guys!

follow 3ds guide, it has a section towards the end for people with pre existing emunand. just make sure before you start following the guide that you delete your menuhax by changing your theme on your sysnand.

*shakes head start from the beginning juste because your on 9.2 doesnt mean you can skip anything, you need to start at the beginning to downgrade to 2.1 to get your OTP and then install A9LH. as long you follow closely and dont try to take shortcuts your fine.

I didn't try to take shortcuts. I misunderstood. I thought I could start from that part.

Why I cannot downgrade the EmuNand instead of SysNand to get the OTP file? One is copy of the other, it should work, no?

its been explained why in the past but i cannot remember Why but what we'd get from Emunand is no good.

The OTP gets locked very early on in boot. Below 3.0, it does not get locked, so we can access it on sysNAND. If you boot a firmware below 3.0 in emuNAND, the system has already gone through boot up (on the updated sysNAND) and locked the OTP. Getting it on emuNAND does not work because sysNAND will already have booted and locked it.

Thanks for your explanation! My question now is about the SafeA9LHInstaller.
I'm confused because someone has helped my brother yesterday to upgrade his N3DS from menuhax to A9LH. I asked him for the steps he did , and it seems he didn't go to 2.1 to get the OTP. He just launched SafeA9LHInstaller on SysNand, and after restored the EmuNand to SysNand.

That's because I'm confused.

He must have had a9lh already and was updating it.

If he had, he wasn't using. Because he had EmuNand.

Just follow the guide and you'll be ok and listen to what it says like "dont put your 3ds to sleep on 2.1 if you use a n3ds"

Yeah, you're right. I know. It's just because I like to understand what I'm doing.

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
