I had a laptop before "Lenovo thinkpad" but this one looks to have even better specs

Nvidia geforce 940m (my last one was 750m)

Intel core i7 processor

1tb storage

12gb ram

It's 699 dollars.

Yes? No? Thoughts? Kind of in a rush so yeah thanks:)

1) Is a desktop an option?
2) What kind of games?

Something like that of the top of my head will likely be more for older games or less demanding stuff.

Well I need a laptop. My Lenovo worked very well for playing games like Outlast or Battlefield 4 on their highest settings, so I don't see why this cannot do the same with a surperior graphics card.

It's the HP Liquid Platinum Ci7 (15-au018wm)

Also looks like ram is 12gb ddr4 (4...)

Or hey, if anyone can recommend a decent gaming laptop at a lower price such as the one I'm looking at I'd appreciate it.

as a rule of thumb, go for a laptop with gtx 1060 at least, consider the gtx 900m series obsolete as of now. if 1060 still unaffordable, 1050 ti.

Another option is getting something like a Razor Core, the external graphics card enclosure for laptops that plugs in via Thunderbolt 3. Makes just about any laptop capable of desktop level gaming (minus around 15-20% efficiency but anyway). Then the only limiting factor is the CPU (so quad core i5/i7 is a good choice).

I would also recommend this if the price was cheaper as the core alone cost $500 plus the additional cost of the graphics card and laptop whose thunderbolt 3 port supports it.

ANy laptops you guys recommend, 1,300 tops?
start here
Code:
XoticPC
Sager
Eurocom
These laptops are easy to maintain and upgrade.

with that budget, look at either gtx 1050 ti or gtx 1060 and never lower. these brands actually are rebranded from "Clevo" hence the laptops are similar, just look for whichever brand provide you the better price.

if possible just go for gtx 1060 6gb, it may future proof for vram hungry games without you toning down too much settings. their laptops are easily user upgradeable and maintaining (cleaning).

google about them. if you're only comfortable with 'well-known' brands then maybe you can start here instead:

newegg is a good place with filters for your budget as well

Personally I bought a ASUS ROG last year, (1350 CAD at the time) with a gtx 960m and 16 gb ddr4 ram, as well as a i7 6700HQ cpu. It runs pretty much anything I threw at it without a sweat, even very heavy games like witcher 3, although I had to reduce a bit of the graphic quality for the best performance.
