1) go into system settings, and disable spotpass (both updates and software because its useless anyway)

2) if you have the nag, just press no when it prompts you to install it

I don't know who keeps spreading around thar the 3DS auto updates but it's totally false. It always has been user choice.

3DS can't self update, however my friend loans his 3ds out like a nerd, usually gets it back with the latest firmware, so I never really have to chance t help him install a9lh. xD
Lmfao this is why when you loan it out, disable internet and lock that shit with P-controls

Eventually, your 3DS will nag you with an update prompt if you're connected to the internet without an update-blocking DNS, regardless of any of your other settings. However, it will not auto-update. It is easy, however, to accidentally hit yes on the update nag. It's recommended that you install A9LH and CFW so you don't have to worry about updates.

Figured this was a good thread to ask this instead of started a new one.....

in the last thew days I got both my Daughter a 2ds each. I used the 3ds.guide with no problems...

as soon as I seen that a sys update was out I took both systems offline. one of the systems seems to have downloaded the update since it says it can install offline, the other was untouched.

The system brings up the Nag to update after closing a game every now and then.. is there a way to remove the download/ but not installed update ? I dont want my Daughter who is 7 to update by accident..

I awesome restoring my NANDmin.bin .... . but not sure if that could cause a problem

As long as you followed the guide and have A9LH and Luma properly installed you have no need to worry.
If you don't want to update, you can install https://github.com/GiantBlargg/UpdateSuppressor I believe I've never personally used it, however it may be of help?

Im pretty sure I did everything right , still being new to the 2/3ds stuff ... a bit nervous LOL ...... would that Nand restore I was think work or no ? I'm not sure where the downloaded update is stored/ it's not installed just downloaded

Just wanting to clear the non-installed but downloaded update of the system and keep it offline till more is known about the new firmware...

I see some people having problems that say they installed CFW the way I did, I'm still learning so I prob misunderstood some things

Well to be safe you can make a nand backup now.
The users having bricking issues are updating while running Gateway, which if you followed that guide, you don't have. The files you used from the guide basically protect you in a way, Gateway does not which is why there have been so many people bricking lol
It's a little funny that they can't read, but as long as you can boot into hourglass, you don't really have to ever worry. c:

You can read more about the firmware if you're able to understand and pick up on things extremely easy (being autistic helps haha)
