So, My friend showed me homebrew on the 2ds, worked... tried to go further, and install luma3ds... kept sending me to the home screen. NOW, I tried to delete all of the A9LH files and luma3ds files and anything like it, besides the homebrew channel, and then I tried to system update it... didn't work... am I screwed?
Or can I just call nintendo to hook me up. :/

But now I severely regret this and I want to go back. Any way on how?
First, the easiest way to revert back to normal is to actually complete the A9LH installation part of the guide. If you really want to, you can then restore an old NAND backup and wipe A9LH.
Second, there is absolutely no reason to go back. A9LH and CFW have numerous benefits and no cons.

In other words, there's no reason not to finish the guide. https://3ds.guide/get-started-(old-3ds)

2.1.0 NA.
First, don't you dare format. Like I said before, you will brick if you do.

Second, you should backup everything on your SD card to a safe place on your computer, delete everything from the SD card, and start from scratch starting with this part of the guide: https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

We can discuss your options after you're finished.

What is with this general misconception people seem to have that the SD card is somehow the lifeline of the console? The console can boot without an SD card just fine, so formatting it surely can't do any harm to the console (note: it can't).

On a related note, I wonder why most people think that hacking makes online features unavailable. But they don't wonder if they cartridges will still work even though Gateway makes the use of cartridges an annoyance (not saying Gateway is the mainstream thing to do but at least it is the proof that "cartridges work no problem" is not an obvious assumption).

Also, I agree that formatting the 2DS on 2.1 is a bad idea but I think this should be mentioned https://gbatemp.net/threads/2dsaver-beta-fix-your-2ds-format-brick-testers-needed.457828/

Perhaps because not with every console can you easily access online services with pirated games? The way Nintendo's online services work is flawed and so they can't differentiate between a bought game and a pirated one (as far as CIA's are concerned, anyway). Nintendo really should've intergrated the "header" thing from cartridges into CIA's and have every single copy of their game - digital or physical - have an unique header that only works with that specific game. Even the header system is flawed since you can just inject a private header into your games and you can use a single header for all games even if it's from an entirely different game .. logic.

I'm curious to see what they have learned from their past mistakes as far as Switch is concerned, and how long it'll take for Switch to be cracked and be fully exploitable. Not long I assume.
