Hello, I'm following the 3ds guide at 3ds.guide and I'm stuck in the 4th section of the arm9loader tutorial (https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax).

When downgrading to 2.1 I was prompted to backup my sysnand to a nandmin.bin file but I didn't have enough space on my SD card, and since they said I would lose my save files I didn't care about that and proceeded anyway, now the tutorial requires me to restore the system before updating the console.

I want to know if there is any problem to update my o3ds to the current update from the 2.1. I saw that new 3ds' would brick, but they didnt say anything about the regular one.
Any help would be apreciated.

Guys, following this tutorial (https://3ds.guide/9.2.0-ctrtransfer), it asks me to backup sysnand at section 3.3, but as I only have the 2gb SD card that came with the console I don't have enough space for the backup, is it possible to proceed without the backup? am I able to update to current release on 9.2.0?

You can do the ctr transfer without a backup, but man it's risky because if it ever messes up and you don't have a nand backup - byebye 3ds.

Can't you take some stuff off of your sd card, make the backup, put it on your computer, and then delete the backup from your sd card?

Okay, I'll go at my local Walmart right now and buy a new SD card that has at least 16GB. Ill have to redo all the steps right? I already configured luma and armloader

If you copy the contents of one sd card to the other, you won't have to redo anything.

IIRC old 3DS have no problems updating from 2.1 (well, it's suposed to work like that, 2.1 was designed to work with old 3DS)

Hey, another issue, at section 6, reinstalling tickets. I did as the tutorial said but I get an error " Failed to install ticket" on every ticket installation (see attachment) the tutorial does not troubleshoot this error, I never used Gateway to downgrade my 3ds. What can I do to fix this?

It's no biggie if you skip this part, it just means your games won't show up in your home menu anymore until you install their tickets (or you can just delete them from System Settings). You can use TikShop for example to install every ticket available in the 3ds titlekeys site.

Hmm, I get it, thanks for the help! I wonder what caused this problem though

Me too! If you work out what the problem is let us know
Sorry, I haven't seen your reply. Skipping that part didn't turn out to be a problem because you're only meant to do that so you still have the tickets for the games you legitimately bought. In the course of the 3 years I owned this old 3ds I have bought like 6-7 eshop games, so as I am using freeshop to get any game I want all I had to do was download enctitlekeys library from freeshop's website. No issue has been caused by that, other than "losing" the ownership of those couple of games.

Why cant people follow what is said?
Like come on really. At lest 2 of these threads a day.
Read the whole thing from start to finish 2 times then reread each step before doing it.
The guide is really good and easy to follow just follow it to a T.

You still own them. If you're signed into your NNID, try deleting them, then go to redownloadable software in the eShop and you'll see they are there for redownload.

I read it, but as the guide said I would lose my saves I did not care about it. I would have to spend another 40 minutes freeing up space on my 2 GB SD Card and making the backup, and them saving the backup on my pc, and them copying the 9.1 Update to my SD.
Also, the guide said that if there was no room on the SD you were using, you would be prompted to insert a new one, and that didn't occur.
