KOEI TECMO Europe today announced that its highly-anticipated samurai action RPG, Nioh, will receive a second downloadable demo exclusively for the PS4, following the success of the Alpha Demo in April.

They've also released a trailer for the occasion:

More about Nioh:

In the dark, fantasy action RPG Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Players will face off against other samurai in epic sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai’s skills, patience, and strategy. Nioh not only incorporates iconic elements from Japanese folklore such as samurai and supernatural creatures—the game also offers the exhilaration of an authentic samurai sword fight straight from Team NINJA. Nioh is guaranteed to challenge players in a way that makes every mission feel earned and their accomplishments worthwhile.

Nioh
is scheduled for launch in 2016 and is in development exclusively for the PS4. Keep in touch with the game via its official Facebook page.

Hopefully this one is available to play longer than a week this time, didn't even get to try the last one with work and all, and when I got around to it, all I got was, "this demo has expired", I was like seriously....

Played the first demo and it was absolutely rubbish, controls are sluggish, terrible gameplay, just felt like a cheap game developed by indie devs, nothing special here

so true, most people who didn't like it seem to have gone into it thinking it was a hack n slash ala Dynasty Warriors
To be fair, back when it was originally announced in 2004 for the PS3 it looked like it was going to be a regular hack'n'slash.
But I love this Dark Soulsy approach to it. It's different enough to be it's own thing but similar enough to be attractive to a souls veteran.

The third and final demo is up on psn and only lasts for this weekend. It's the last chance to get the 3 unlocks that carry over to the full game.
If you like dark souls or bloodborne I think you'll REALLY like this game.

We just smashed it:

Great. I just had the idea of DLC for demos and it makes me wonder why not? It'd merge it into the very same first demo that was released.

God, I hope this gets a NS release!

There is no demo for DLC here, you just unlock the dlc for the main game by beating the demo.

Also this is funded by Sony so it's PS4 exclusive.

The other Demo's before were PS+ exclusive just like Nier Automata's Demo is.
PS+ exclusive demos isn't really a new concept.

I know it's an older post, but the demo being locked behind it was just in Germany. Nier Automata and Nioh were both available for standard accounts outside Germany. Only in Germany were they PS+ only, so you could make an account for a different region store and get them that way.

Seems a lot of PEGI 18 demos are PS+ only in Germany for some reason.

Anyway. Onto the game. I only played the first demo, never had time to finish it, but I liked it. Currently seems to be £44.99 everywhere, so I'll wait, not paying that for it.

Good on the devs for giving a 60fps mode as well.
