Please, be informed that I do not know whether or not this has been covered, but it seems that users who will be using the MicroSDXC Card will no longer be able to stay on older FW while using game saves on their SDXC, which has a capacity of 64+ GB. So far, this isn't very big news, as it says nothing on microSD(HC) cards or if formatting the MicroSDXC card will do. It seems stupid to include this unless they are formatting SD cards with their own format, which will cripple pirating on any level once it becomes an issue.

TL;DR Version:
  • Nintendo says updating is required for microSDXC usage
  • Says nothing about microSD(HC)
  • May be possible to bypass via formatting or not connecting to internet
  • Nintendo may be including a special format for SD cards which will explain this
  • May prevent pirating until a CFW that addresses this issue is created (still ages away)

What? Did you see the source?
"Please Note: An update via an internet connection is required to use microSDXC Memory Cards."
Did I write something wrong. Please let me know, I am new to this whole reporting thing.

A day 1 update is needed to use the card, not an update is needed to constantly use them. What probably happened is they couldn't get SDXC support in before shipping, so its a day 1 patch.

Well they definitely did not clarify that on the website. No where I have seen has said this.

As well as everything I have said, and being wrong in that, I still believe that Nintendo will release some sort of protection on their SD cards, probably a special format, or they will make it so you need constant updates to get it to work with SD cards.

And now this thread has been degraded to wild speculation.

Everything you said in this has no backing whatsoever, not even "they haven't done it on any handhelds", it is in their best interest, and it is most likely going to happen, that they will include a special save format

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
