Atlus has uploaded a few more "confidant" trailers, which showcases how the player character will interact and befriend important characters. This feature replaces the Social Link mechanic in previous Persona titles, but it functions in a very similar manner.

Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled youth who live dual lives. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high-schooler – attending class, after school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self;” the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears.

Persona 5 will release on April 4. in the Americas and Europe, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Pre-orders are now available at participating retailers for either version of the game. The game is rated M by the ESRB.

I guess just more budget and a little extra bonus when in dungeons?

However, the improvement of Confidants over Social Links is that there are now various benefits, many of which can be used in battle. Another improvement is that the Confidants are completely voiced, while only certain Social Link lines were voiced.

You can also up your confidant ranks of the arcanas which help teach your personae skills that will negate your weaknesses. The PR email doesn't really explain many differences, so I'm not sure why they changed it from "social links".

Looks awesome, it might be a shame that after all these trailers all important people are already known, but I have to admit that during my playthrough of Persona 4 golden I almost missed to go out a night as I didn't know you could do that.
In Persona 3 FES which I play atm I also missed to go to the swimming club as I didn't know it or missed the bit of text that told me.
So it's great to already know a bit of what is offered so I won't miss out on important things this time, hopefully.

They are not. The only difference between versions is that the PS4 version has faster load times
