I'm scratching the back of my head here because I don't understand what's happening.
I have Haxchi installed WITHOUT CBHC on version 5.5.1E.
Games that are installed using the WUP installer on NAND function normally, I boot the Wii U, I start Haxchi, launch Mocha or SimpleSignaturePatcher and I boot the games.

Now here is the fun part: When I boot my Wii U and go straight to WUP installer installed games that are on my USB stick, they work anyway  (do note that they are all from the same console region). I wanted to intstall CBHC because launching Haxchi every time is annoying, but I'm getting a large drive soon and if CBHC isn't needed then I'd rather avoid the risk.

Yeah, games with valid tickets (that came from a WUD dump) can be played without signature patch. That's actually how this was discovered, signature patching only came later.

You will need to patch the sigs if you want to install VC games or anything that is e-shop only.

So it is fully dependant on the ticket included with the game? I downloaded all of them from FunKii-UI (NUS), and isn't it a bit coincidental that the 3 games that are on my USB drive all work, and all others don't?

I believe all they are "legit" games, they don't need sig patches.
Try with a NES or SNES VC game from the USB, it will not work

You can with the "Brazilian method", google it (only with games that have disc + eshop release, in your region).

But Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10 and those types of games all don't work.
You need the proper ticket for those to work with sig patches.

It's easy to get sig patches though. Just hold b booting the latest version of haxchi...

Okay that's good because I'm not playing those types of games on my Wii U.

What mode were you in when you installed the games to usb? Mocha CFW? RedNAND? Sigpatched sysnand?

Tell HaxChi to boot to system menu. This will boot you to a sigpatched sysNAND. Then try all your games. If this works, then setup the config.txt file on your SD inside the haxchi folder to autoboot to system menu. Then reinstall haxchi to apply your changes.

This will make it so you only have one click (Haxchi) then click the game and play.

CBHC will eliminate the first click all together

Okay, I'll have a look into this. Installed Wii Party U without an update or DLC and it still works.

I think it was Mocha CFW. Thanks for the config tip, I didn't know you had to re-install Haxchi

Thanks everyone for your help, I'll figure out what I want to do from here.
