Hacking Some CFW related Questions

Hello everyone. I am currently using the Brazilian method for USB games and I had 0 problems with it. However I want to switch to CFW for DLC and perhaps Wii VC. I don't want to use Haxchi (I know it is the best method but I don't want to spend money for the DS VC game), besides loading homebrew launcher through the browser isn't the problem for me. So I have a couple of questions.
1) Considering I want a SysNAND CFW, what is the difference between Mocha CFW and simple signature patcher, and which one should I use?
2) If I want to install DLC, is it necessary that I go into homebrew launcher, load the CFW, load homebrew launcher again, install DLC through Wup installer? Or can I just load homebrew launcher, then install the DLC WITHOUT loading the CFW, but then load CFW whenever I want to play the DLC game?

1. You can use mocha and browser exploit to load it. But you have to go through all those steps every time you want to play DLC.
2. Yes, yes and yes. Just install the DLC while in mocha. Then when you want to play load up mocha and play.

Since there is an alternative I don't see why I should pay 10 dollars, that is just my personal view of the matter though. So should I use mocha or simple signature checker? And do you know what happens if I install dlc while I am not in cfw mode?
