Studio Nicalis has quietly confirmed on Twitter that two of their games, Cave Story and 1001 Spikes, will be joining The Binding of Issac on the Nintendo Switch. The Tweet confirming as such as since been deleted from the company's account, but the image within the Tweet is still floating about online. The initial post reads as follows:

Also interestingly to note, is the Switch itself. The UI has already been shown before, but this photo shows a dark theme instead of the white backgrounds that were featured with the demo units in New York and London. It is unknown if Cave Story and 1001 Spikes will be making their way in time for launch, though The Binding of Issac is scheduled for March 3rd.

Man I remember playing Cave Story on the computer, actually first at high school because someone showed it to me and others. Around 11th grade, 2009, classrooms were gradually getting equipped with Macbooks, so by the end of that year I was playing Cave Story on a Macbook. I'm pretty sure I was, I played it on PC at home after the school year, closer to 2010. I didn't keep up with it, not knowing that it got ported to consoles, different versions or whatever. I just played it on a computer, so awesome, maybe ahead of its time because it did retro before it became cool again, not sure. Anyways, I would like to try it on Switch, wondering if it's a complete transfer of the original computer version or if it's some kind of redesign. It will definitely bring back good memories, great story, gradually gets hard, sweet music. Once you make it to Hell (or Hel, I think they called it that), the game can be pretty brutal, but it's trial and error, eventually you get good at it.

I think the Switch is different in regards to ports, seeing as how games like Disgaea 5 and Steep will now be playable on-the-go. Of course, it matters little for Binding of Issac and Cave Story, as they're already on handhelds, but I still think it's nice to have variety in case someone under a rock hasn't gotten to try Cave Story yet.

So we don't already have enough cave story ports? Let's see... umm freeware pc game, wii ware, DSI, 3DS eshop, 3DS retail, Cave story+ Steam edition (Not the same as freeware) BUNCH OF FAN HOMEBREW PORTS including GENESIS/MEGADRIVE (Not kidding, i have a copy of the rom to play.) PSP, Rettro arch for emulators, and just about any other homebrew system.

So what new reason do we have to be buying this one this time? I would have been happier seeing a blaster master HD remake or some collection.
