I bought shin Megami tensei 4 from the estore and I found a save that I would like to copy to the system. However when I add the save it says file corrupted. I was told that I need to use a program JKSM but I'm not really sure where to start. Said I might have to use a custom firmware also? I am currently on 11.2.0-35U and any help or any step in the right direction would be greatly appreciated . I do have a dstwo plus if that helps ....

Follow 3ds.guide/get-started If you want full CFW OR just follow this page 3ds.guide/Homebrew-launcher-(SoundHax) for homebrew only
Then look at https://github.com/J-D-K/JKSM/release.
Use the cia if you get full CFW or the 3dsx file if you just use homebrew.

Thank you for your response. One more question? Could I accomplish my goal with cfw or home brew? If so what would be safest / easiest, etc?

There is a homebrew 3dsx version of jksm, and technically that would be the easiest way of accomplishing this, but having a cfw has astronomical benefits so I'd reccomend that.

So I have installed sound hax and followed the steps . Launch the file and it basically locks up on a white screen. Sometimes it's a red screen. Not really consistent. I do see the menu but then it disappears. Any thoughts?

What steps? To install cfw or to load jksm? You really should install cfw and never have to worry about this again.

If I install cfw do I lose access to the estore and updates? Just not 100% sure how it will effect me and if I will brick the system. Do I have to down grade from 11.2.0-35u in order to do cfw?

Once the cfw is installed, you can update and access the eshop as normal, and no data will be lost. In fact if you wanted to you could treat it as a non cfw 3ds and it would work fine. Atm the guide is so simple if you follow all the steps you cannot brick. Just dont use video guides, they leave out steps and become outdated quickly. Heres the guide: 3ds.guide

OK so I figured out why I was unable to launch the homebrew. I am on it and I open up JK Save Manager. I have the .Sav file on the root of the SD card but I am unable to import it in to the game I digitally bought. Any thoughts of how that would work?

I dont believe jksm can restore from .sav format, i think thats gateway. You need a gateway or gateway user to convert it for you.

What error does it give you? If you deleted the digital download (or extra data for it. Which is the save for it.) Then it will give you a message that the files are corrupted (at least on my 3ds.)

The easiest way to fix this is redownloading the game from the eshop (or whatever you use.) And entering the game, once its created the extra data go into JKSM again and you shouldn't get the message anymore.

You need to have the game selected using your Gateway and also name the save something in particular for it to be exportable with JKSM. If you don't have a Gateway you can't use it.
