Is there a fix for this issue? The 3DS will turn on with a blue light, stay on for around 3-5 seconds, and then make a "pop" noise before shutting off. Any idea?
Maybe it's one of the two lcd's ribbon cable that is not connected anymore, or maybe it's broken, just a guess tho

Open it and check the ribbon cables
Would this require opening the top or bottom screen? If it's the bottom no problem but I don't know how to open the top screen.

is this your problem?

This is correct.

Open the bottom, check if it's ok, if it's not fix it(?), if it's alright then open the top
How do you open the top? I've only ever had to do fixes with the bottom opened.

EDIT: Maybe there are both cables at the bottom, I can't remember
I managed to get it on, but only at an angle, as in the first video @BlueFox gui linked. So the next step to fix it fully would be to fix the cables, correct? In the video, they turned the brightness down and it worked, however this did not work for me.

I had the same issue yesterday.
Open bottom back cover, and at first step try to gently push ribbons back to slots (ribbons in mainboard corner)
for me it fixes the issue.
If you decide to detached ribbons, you must take off motherboard to assembly them again (at least in new 3ds) and this is rather hard to do.
