Yacht Club Games has just revealed a couple of new announcements for Shovel Knight. Most importantly, the game is getting a port to the Nintendo Switch. The original game will also be getting re-titled to Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, to match the naming scheme of Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment add-ons.

Later on in the year, Yacht Club will be releasing King Knight's Campaign, staring the eponymous character. There will also be a "Battle" mode, where you can fight in up to 4 player local multiplayer.

2 Player local multiplayer will be added to all console home versions of the game as well. This feature used to be exclusive to Wii U owners with a Shovel Knight Amiibo.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and Specter of Torment will be coming to the Switch, though the company did not clarify on the matter.

Finally, the game's initial price will be raising. You have only a small time frame to buy it at the original price point before it raises. Each portion of the game will now be separate and cost money for new buyers.

All owners of Shovel Knight on all platforms will automatically own Shovel Knight:Treasure Trove instead and will continue to get each of the planned free campaigns and features via updates. It will work exactly like how Shovel Knight was updated to include its first campaign addition, Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows. Don’t worry!

I don't know if they (Nintendo) make a superior for 3DS since all platforms for mobile gaming use an ARM architecture? Or they make new 3DS'kind with less kind of ARM CPU and say "hey what, we have got for you another gaming platform but with 2 screens and 3D screen (whatever) and free pack of cookies. I still haven't finished the original game and I bought it almost 2 years ago or whatever. Just shows how much time I put into non-Pokemon games. I had a really hard time in the underwater pirate ship level thing. This though interests me, more to play in the future, the game's super fun.

I hope the switch game get a Exclusive character like playstation or xbox. Still i don't think steam has anyone.

To be fair the amiibo gets you double the relics that are fun to use, and you can give it custom looks. It's not too bad in my book, and makes multiple playthroughs interesting.
Also everyone seems to be forgetting the amiibo was used in Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 as a secret boss.

For me shovel knight is the best indie of all time bar none. I already own it on 3ds and Xbox so need to worry from me but everyone else should pick it up asap that way they get the next 2 dlc for free.

The dlc are basically a new campaign on modified versions of the same maps, but with all new story very expansive. I would reccomend this game to literally anyone who likes platformers.

The Wii U amiibo will continue to allow you to use custom knight in single or multiplayer. And it provides the amiibo singleplayer and amiibo co-op challenges.
