I downgraded to 2.1.0 and I'm trying to install a9lh and I type in the link into the browser and it loads but it only flashes the black screen for like a second and then freezes... I press select to install and wait 10 seconds then shut off the system but, when I turn it back on, I'm still on 2.1.0 and luma doesn't load...

I encountered this last night. Try the following:
  • Clear the browser save data ("initialize" save data).
  • Use a different SD card. (This is what fixed it for my case.) You only need the arm9.bin, arm11.bin, SaleA9LHInstaller.dat, and /a9lh directories on the second card for testing.
The 2xrsa exploit is notably finicky in what cards it wants to work with.

EDIT: A missing arm11.bin would also be a problem. :V

No CFW can boot 2.1, you need to flash backup with hourglass9 like plailect guide says. What are you following?

They hasn't installed A9LH yet, please read. They're missing their arm11.bin.

I didn't see the updated posts, not sure why it wouldn't reboot tho. To boot 2.1 without A9LH I didn't thin you don't need arm11.bin on sd card

Edit: NVM I read original post wrong, he can boot into 2.1, then yes A9LH is not installed you are correct.

Please read the guide again....it says:,,Move the files from A9LH installer to the root if your sd card....

For what it's worth, Luma was updated some time ago to support booting 1.x and 2.x on SysNAND. However, this will only work on Old 3DS. If you try it on New 3DS, Luma will get thoroughly confused because it's expecting the CTRNAND partition to be encrypted with keyslot 0x05 (the downgraded version uses keyslot 0x04 like Old 3DS), and it will fail to load with a CTRNAND mount error. The solution, of course, is to chainload Hourglass9 and restore the original N3DS NAND while preserving A9LH.

I suppose it would be possible for Luma to check the NCSD header to see if it's a downgraded N3DS, but that's more trouble than it's worth, especially due to the sleep mode issues.
