[FTW] Getting a Pokemon from "any" QR Code?

My little brothers and I were playing Smash Bros. before we decided to play some good ole Pokemon and have a few battles. My brothers wanted to go around and catch Pokemon first because their current mons weren't diverse enough and one of them decided to mess with a random QR Code off of a Math book and got a Pokemon! After us 3 finding out about this weird occasion, I decided to get some evidence together and have you guys help explain to me about how QR Codes work and why the QR Scanner thinks that they're Pokemon QR's.

I tried getting clearer pictures of the QR Code, but my phone would just not co-operate.

Also you only get pokedex info and not the pokemon

Well I guess *he didn't get a Pokemon, just the dex info, but it was a Gloom (as seen in the video)

Yeah nobody really talks about it but I (and likely others) tried scanning random codes the second it was out.

Yeah , i believe some guy scanned Yo-Kai-Watch! QR Codes and they worked



This guy has also scanned Miis and Pokemon TCG Codes and i think those worked too!
