Okay, so: I have only freeShop and FBI v2.2.2. I need to update FBI for the URL install but I can't. I have two Android devices and that's it. I tried reading a QR code but FBI refuses to read it. So, how do you use the network install feature?

Get a QR-Code for a FTP Manager then use FTP over your phone hotspot.

if u have a new 3ds, there's a built-in ftp app. that's what I use. u can even map the network drive for easy access.

FBI 2.2.2 doesn't have the Update feature at the bottom. Is there something preventing you from installing the newer 2.4.5 .cia version from a PC @skullkeeper94 ?
I currently don't have access to a PC.

I have an old 3DS XL.

Could you perhaps provide more intructions?
Scan this with FBI:
ftpd_qr.png
That should install ftpd, from there you can use that app and an android ftp client app to send files to your 3ds.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Or do what I did before and insert your 3ds microsd into your phone :^)

I made the "smart" move of using an actual SD card. The only thing that seems to be stopping me is that FBI is refusing to read any QR codes. Yeah. I have no clue why either.

Try turning up the brightness on your phone to max? That usually helps it read QRs, because the 3ds camera is shiiiiit

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
