Hey guys! You may know me from the Wii U hacking community but, I'm here today with a possible leak. Nintendo may be officially bringing GBA VC games to the 3DS. I found Mario Kart: Super Circuit on CIAngel and then realized it wasn't on the eShop (NA eShop at least). I may or may not have installed the CIA file and just as expected, it's Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the GBA with an official VC shell. I will post some screenshots if you guys don't believe me. Am I the first person to discover this find though? Thanks for reading this post and as always, happy hacking!

- Ben

Sorry for the terrible image quality. The images were taken with my DSi XL.

It's only there because it was one of the ambassador games available for people that bought a 3ds early. This doesn't mean anything.
also i forgot where it was but apparently nintendo was disgusted wit how the gba vc ran. so they scrapped the idea. however now that mgba runs fine on n3ds maybe theyll make gba vc n3ds only versions

It's possible, but it's probably too late at this point.

What do you mean by how it ran? I runs GBA games a hell of a lot better than my actual GBA does. Maybe it's just the screen's refresh rate that makes it appear better though

possibly.
The thing is, SNES VC runs perfectly fine on an O3DS. I don't know WHY they made it N3DS exclusive. Maybe due to Legend of the 7 Stars. I will inject that into a SNES VC and test how well 7 Stars runs.

Sorry then. I thought this was just an unreleased eShop title that appeared in CIAngel.
That's impossible. Someone has to leak the title key.

It didn't match Nintendo's quality standards because you can't return sleep, suspend and go to the home menu, or create save states.

Yeah, I don't think SuperFX games work as well on O3DS.

Please also realize Nintendo has extremely high standards when it comes to running things smoothly on their platforms. They'd rather things run smooth than fancy graphics. What this means is that if a single one of the GBA VC games slowed down at any point on an O3DS, they'd deem it a failure.

7 stars crashes the 3ds when it loads.

How about some exclusive native games?

GBA VC will only show down if it does down on real hardware. Because it is running on real hardware. There's a GBA embedded in your 3DS.

also the greatest games (earthbound, yoshis island, and startfox used the chip and building two emulators for the same product would be weird)

That explain's Luma3DS's option for the GBA startup animation when running a GBA game. Does the 3DS have it's own native GBA mode which would explain why the VC doesn't reach Nintendo's quality standards?

actually no. they are trying to run gba on that of arm9 / arm11 which doesnt work fully as it should (basically the level on raspberrypi sometimes perfect but many games slow down mostly the cpu has to not only emulate an entire device but the game and running the game virtually too thats why it slows)

Precisely, there's FIRM0/1 for 3DS, TWL_FIRM for DS/DSi, and AGB_FIRM for GBA.

While a common rumor, it's been proven false by very low level inspection of the timings and glitches of the ARM7. It's been concluded that no emulator running on a ~300 MHz CPU could possibly be as accurate as the GBA VC.
To put it in perspective: bsnes is known for requiring a 2-3GHz GPU for cycle accurate emulation. The GBA VC is sub-cycle accurate.

Additionally, as I recall people found an actual GBA VC that isn't using AGB_FIRM.
It's incomplete and runs horribly, indicating they tried to do so and realized it wasn't going to work.

They then released the GBA ambassador titles and proceeded to do absolutely nothing else with GBA on 3DS.
