It's for a friend.
The save is in a O3DS with CFW (nds exploit: 4.x in sysnand and rxtools in emunand RX-E 10.3.0-28E).
She would play it in the new 3ds with regular 11.2.
I remenber something in the gateway launcher....

Thanks

Last I knew this works with the DevApp called Save Data Filer. I read in a guide you need to delete the "secure value" of the .cia before transferring the save to the 3DS cartridge.

And it's not a problem that the .cia version is not a "legit" version?
Yeah no that's fine, it should work with JKSM.

Uh yeah but thats hella complicated compared to JKSM which does it all for you

Oh didn't know that JKSM had that feature. I think I only used it a few times to batch backup my .cia saves.
JKSM automatically handles the secure values so you can safely import and export without worry :)

1) launch JKSM
2) select pokemon moon (.cia version)
3) Export Save (or also the Export ExtData?)
4) Insert pokemon moon cartridge
5) relaunch JKSM
6) select pokemon moon (retail version)
7) Import Save (or also Import ExtData?)
8) Play Pokemon with the old save.

Is it correct? XD

That should be correct.
Not sure if transferring the extra data affects much, but thats the general gist of it

What files are there in the ExtData ?
Not sure what Pokemon Sun/Moon saves there, the only thing that comes to mind is battle replays.
Either way it's nothing important, feel free to miss it out and everything will work fine

I don't know, I would just play better safe then sorry, doesn't hurt much taking 2 more steps in backing up and restoring extra data, although I would think that would auto work as is being that it is just a file on the sd... although I'm not the most knowledgeable on this topic :/

I dunno, I've only had issues when dealing with extra data, it's not like anything important is stored there anyway for most games.
If it works then great, if it doesn't then no worries.

unless were talking fire emblem fates, hearing that it's a bit scary that if you have 2-3 of the games and have games in those extdata slots now, yikes

Yes Fates likes to use the extra data for savedata for some reason
For Pokemon however, it should be fine

AFAIK ExtData is also stored in SD for cartridge games. So if you load the same save from cartridge and from cia it should load the same ExtData. (It's for that reason that if you load a cartridge in another 3DS you don't have all your data, ExtData it's not in the cartridge)

@Veho, Sounds and smells like bullshit. They don't give you cancer, and California should know that. I don't get why they stick labels that say "may or may not cause reproductive harm or cancer".
