Install the hbl cia with FBI
I don't have FBI either. I literally have:
Health & Safety
3ds camera
3ds sound
MiiMaker
MiiPlaza
eShop
AR GAMES
Face Raiders
Activity Log
Nintendo Zone
Download Play
System Settings
Youtube

Update: Just tried connecting to the internet and accessing the homebrew channel from Cubic Ninja and still getting error. Not really sure what to do here. I need FBI but I need HB channell as well.

From 3ds.guide
Section V - Injecting FBI
  1. Open Hourglass9 from arm9loaderhax by holding (Start) on boot
  2. Go to “SysNAND Backup/Restore”, then select the “Health&Safety Dump” option to dump Health & Safety to hs.app (you can use Up and Down / Left and Right to change the name)
  3. Press (B), then select the “Health&Safety Inject” option
  4. Select the FBI injectable .app for your region
  5. Press (A) and confirm to inject
  6. Press (Start) to reboot
  7. If you still launch to the stock Health & Safety app and have downgraded with Gateway in the past, follow this troubleshooting guide

Any help in the right direction would be appreciated. What I'm trying to do is get my o3ds back on track so I can start playing my games again. Hopefully there is a way to backup my saves so I don't have to start over.

Problem: o3ds doesn't recognize/display any (previously) installed CIA's; only official 3ds titles are showing up when powering console.

I have CubicNinja and the hack just comes back with an error when trying to access HB channel from the game.

I get this error when trying to make a backup of my SD: View attachment 73000

You need to restore the backup from when your Nintendo 3DS folder worked. You must have done a format or system transfer since you backed up your Nintendo 3DS folder.

If you don't have a backup then you can use TikShop to install most of your game tickets and have them show up again.

Unfortunately I didn't keep any of my backups when I first installed A9LH because I tried restoring them before and always ended up in failure.

No I didn't do a system transfer or format. The only thing I did was check my sd card for errors on my Win10 PC.

Totally worked :) thanks bro/ma'am?

Now my only questions is if I install the same cia's will my saves still be there? Or what do I have to do to get them?

I'm not entirely sure about that. I would recommend you get one off Amazon. Patriot is a good brand and I've never had an issue with them on Wii, 3ds etc.
i'll take a look, also strange thing is a use on Ebay reposted a sell for one and it seems the location of the item has changed.
edit: now the items gone again, i'm confused lol

Where are the saves stored on a 3ds?
After getting my 3ds back up and running I reinstalled pokemon sun and it seems I have to start over in my progress?
Is there any way to get my previous save back?

More information about your situation? Did you restore a backup of your 3DS? Did you format your NAND?

Worst case scenario: If you never backed up your save of Pokemon Sun using a save manager, your save is forever gone.

If you looked at my previous reply to you, you'll see you have to restore the NAND that the Nintendo 3DS folder previously worked with. You must have done a system transfer or format. The saves are in the Nintendo 3DS folder and are encrypted per console. The encryption changes each time you format.

I checked my sd card on my PC for any errors; this came back as no errors found.
Upon inserting the sd card into the 3ds and booting up. The console did not display any of my installed titles, only the basic nintendo ones.
I ended up having to use Hourglass to reinstall fbi to get the hbc installed and finally got my games installed.

I only formatted my sd card not my 3ds. Does it work the same?

That's it right there. The saves for digital games are stored inside the "Nintendo 3DS" folder and are encrypted IIRC.
Since you formatted the SD Card, your save was deleted in the process.
No chance of recovering that unless you have a backup of your SD Card.

I did back it up but upon looking at the folder backed up there was only 1 title in there. Hm.... Oh well lesson learned right :) Thanks for the assist
