Well i must say i never seen such an upside down scene like the WiiU one :P.
Some parts are complicated , but at least we had some progress the last year ;-)

My son is 7 years old, i would like to see an easy and safe way for him to play backups .
ATM i have IOSU SysNAND but i have ordered an 64GB sd card for rednand.
Now i succesfully installed a few games to the home menu (he can launch without entering the iosu)
but for some i still need to launch iosu for them to play (VC titles).

Is there a way to use the haxchi on the home menu so he can boot straight to the IOSU or Rednand?

Or what do u guys think? Other options?
Coldboothax seems a bit risky as i don't wan't to end up bricking the boy's console!

Your chances of bricking installing CBHC is highly unlikely. Just do it, that's why FIX94 created a end-user friendly installer.
If you're afraid he might kill the console by deleting the CBHC title, then set up Parental Controls.

Also, if you ordered that 64GB card solely for redNAND, you wasted your money. There's no need in using redNAND.

It's not as long as you try it with regular haxchi first (and it works), then sure he mustn't uninstall the DS game but it will be renamed to "DON'T TOUCH" anyway

for rednand
This just adds complexity without advantage. Go with a sysnand cfw, started at your choice with browserhax, haxchi, or cbhc

To be fair though 64GB card will come in handy for loading games.

Buy a DS VC Title (BUY, not install) and install on it haxchi
BTW, coldboothaxchi isn't risky, if you have a DS VC title, it's the safest way.

I would suggest mocha and cbhc set to autoboot mocha. Hide the system config, homebrew and the "don´t touch this" channels.

This all works for me, but kids always find a way to mux things up.

I would bet installing coldboothax is way less riskier than giving your system to a 7 year old.

Also turn off all internet setting in your real system nand. He just might find a way to get into that.

Considering OP wanted to make things easier for his kid, I assume he'd want to have everything USB installed so it's accessible on the Home Menu.

In my honest opinion, instead of babying his kid, he should teach his kid how to properly work the console. I can personally say 7 isn't too young to do that because that's how I was raised, but whatever he'd rather do, I won't fight it.

no doubt about it.. the easiest way is the USB way. Trust me 100% on this. I was in the same situation as you and feared snapped discs which happened in the past!

I'm not sure but some do throw a error without booting haxchi

edit: just checked it seems its just the VC games requiring it, doesn't matter I just told her to always boot it.

if you want her to always boot it.. use cbhc, and get it to autoboot system menu... then just play the games as normal, even easier for her
