Homebrew Can I use the eshop if I homebrew my n3ds?

I'm planning to homebrew my n3ds which has the 11.2.0-35E firmware using freakyhax. Will I still be able to access the eshop?

Yep, as long as your on the newest firmware, you should be able to acess the eshop normally.

What do I do once my firmware is getting outdated though? I've read that updating the firmware removes or makes you unable to use the homebrew.

Normally, if you're on an outdated firmware you open homebrew, then launch CTR-HTTPWN and it will allow access to the eshop and other services.
