Title.
I'm planning on buying an R4 3DS, but wondering if that's even the best choice.
If there's something else better, can someone link?
I'd prefer it if it work on 11.2, no A9LH because I want to play it on other systems too, not just my A9LH-ed one.
I've also just received some pre-paid Visa giftcards, so I'd also prefer if the website accepts those

I dunno about best, but my R4i 3DS has been working very well for me for its price. Works on both my A9LH and vanilla 11.2 systems (although, it is a pain to get the cartridge to stay in a 2DS; I almost thought it wouldn't at all at first).

Wondering this too. I do have a DSTWO and it works very well, but I hate the battery drain. Just want an NDS flashcard that I can stick an SDHC microSD into, put that into my unit, and forget about it without having to worry about it draining while the unit is in sleep mode off the plug. A9LH or not for me though.

(there was a blog of sorts where I asked this question, but I can't find it to see if someone answered)

The DSTWO seems too expensive to me, considering my A9LH 3DS can do everything that cartridge can except for NDS emulation.
But what do you mean by battery drain? Is that cartridge incapable of entering sleep-mode?
But yeah, I only want a cartridge for NDS, then I'll be complete.
NDS piracy, 3DS piracy, SNES piracy, NES piracy, GBA piracy, GB piracy, etc.

This is what I ended up getting and it works really well. http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149
I've tried buying from that site before, but after entering my pre-paid card's number and everything, it rejected me. Even when I tried to buy it through Paypal.

in my exp any sdhc flashcard will consume the same amount of battery save for cards with on board chips (scds2, scds2+, ect) they will consume more as they run even when not accessed . . . with this in mind I'd say you should get the most basic flashcard you can find and use that

but i recommend the op get this http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=135

After seeing this post, I should clarify, this is the card that I have specifically. The gold one.

If you're using your card through Paypal, you should be fine... Although, that site does have very specific directions when it comes to ordering through Paypal, since they don't want to draw suspicion to themselves. It's possible you may have messed up the order rules.

Hmmm, I'm not really sure what I did wrong.
My pre-paid card have a balance of $40. During the order, I click pay with Paypal, enter the info about my card, address, then proceed, but the site still rejected me.

When the card is inserted into Slot 1, and the system is on, the SoC in the DSTWO also becomes active. Even when your 3/DS is idle, doing nothing, or even in sleep mode, this SoC continues to drain from the battery, causing a shorter charge than what you normally find when inserting any sort of game in the slot instead. It's basically adding to the consumption of your battery.

Now, it's been a long time since I looked up information regarding the DSTWO, but if I recall, the main reason for the SoC design was for apps that you could run on a 3/DS that weren't 3/DS apps, as it contained a 400Mhz MIPS CPU with 32MB of RAM. Did things like running emulators like for NES, SNES, and even DOS.

No need to. Worry about it, any flashcard that works in firmware 8.x will work on any 3ds
For example the ds two or the r4i from r4ids.cn (these 2 are my recommendations)

Great, then just purchasing the card is the problem here.
These sites always give me problems with pre-paid cards.
Does anyone have a working R4i they want to sell? (Preferably if listed on Amazon or eBay, or any other site that accepts Visa giftcards)

From the sounds of it, have you not pre-linked the card in Paypal? It might be a problem on that end, then, if it hasn't actually cleared in your Paypal account. I've had a lot of trouble in the past getting cards to link sometimes.

I do not own a Paypal account, actually. I've only used it as a guest.

Do you know about the new ds loader from sd, right?
I know, but only a few games work. The ones that do work are very laggy and buggy. I'd rather just buy a flashcard that works on all of my system, even one that's not hacked.

Yeah, that'd be the issue. Nds-card.com requires a legit Paypal account (or Western Union moneygrams, but I don't even really know what those are to be honest).
I don't know of any good alternatives, though. Ebay very rarely has flash carts listed, and they're much more expensive when they do. There probably are other Chinese vendors similar to nds-card.com, but they're the most trusted for sure.

Incidentally, though, setting up a Paypal account isn't too hard from what I remember, since I believe Visa gift cards can be used for verification.

Dunno if TC does, but I do. It's a great achievement, but, seeing how slowly it does its thing, with low compatibility, and some even require a game with similar save ram chips to get them running, I don't know how long people may want to wait for it. As it is, even if it had all the benefits of a flashcard like it working instantaneously and high compatibility, it would dig into my SD card's space. For me, I've now got a 32GB microSD sitting around unused (after upgrading to a 64GB for my n3DS), and would like to use it.

If anyone have an extra working R4 3DS laying around they wanna sell for a reasonable price (maybe 10-13 bucks), I'd be glad to buy it (maybe around 18-23 if you have a 32gb microsd, or even better, 64gb.)

Hmmm, is this even real or worth it?

This is a good avarage flashcart, but there is no reason to buy one for more than 17$.
