Okay, let me start from the very beginning. Yesterday I met up with a guy who offered me his 2DS. And so I bought it off him. He told me it had CFW (please forgive me I have absolutely NO CLUE whatsoever on how any of this works). When I arrived home, I decided to format the system entirely. After doing so, I thought it was cleansed of everything CFW or arm9loaderhax or whatever it was. The next day I decided to use it, and founf out that one of the apps (the one with an exclamation mark, the warning thing) was hiding this thing called FBI where it could install CIA (well that's what it said in here) and stuff like that. So being the reckless person I am, I formatted the SD card using my phone and put it back. For nearly three hours I was worried because all the 2DS would do whenever I pressed the power button is that the blue power indicator would blink once, go off, and that's it. After searching for solutions online I found how to make it turn on and that I have to download and copy this arm9loaderhax.bin into the SD card. It turned on, much to my surprise. However, it displayed these options for the hack, and I was pretty disappointed because I never wanted the 2DS to have any of this in the first place. I pressed start to exit the menu as indicated, and tried to fiddle with the SD card a bit more. I found out that for some reason my 2DS wouldn't turn on unless the SD card contained the said arm9loaderhax.bin file. I even bought a brand new 8 GB SDHC card (like the one already on the 2DS) and tested it but it didn't work. Is there anything wrong with the 2DS or something? Sorry if I don't know any of this, I'm a noob when it comes to hacking and I've never ever encountered such a problem. Is there anything I could do to make the 2DS work even when I remove its SD card? How about the 2DS being dependent on the hack? and also, how will I be able to permanently remove that FBI application that replaces the warning application?

Keep the hack. Why wouldn't you want free games?
There's nothing wrong with the 2DS. Why did you buy a CFW 2DS if you don't want CFW?

Your actually really lucky that you have the hack in the first place. But to answer your question. I don't even know how to remove it. You could try having all the settings for luma3ds disabled and try doing a system update in the settings. If that fails. There is a different CFW that stores the armloader9.bin on your actual system so you can't even tell it's hacked and works fine without SD I forgot what it's called though sorry. As for the Exclamation mark app, all that was the health and safety app that just has useless health warning that all systems and video games have (it used to be physical books) so you are not missing anything important.

I recommend looking into the scene more due to how lucky you are and there is really cool stuff you can get.

The arm9loaderhax.bin file has to be on the SD card. It's that simple. Nothing is broken.
You can upgrade to a newer version of A9LH to remove this limitation, but I recommend avoiding this with your current level of experience.

Welp the dude told me only when we met up already, and I didn't want to let go of the deal because he's literally the only one who offered me a 2DS. Here in the Philippines it's been really difficult to look for a 2DS in our local retailers.

While it is possible to uninstall A9LH, installing it is a rather long process. He did all the hard work for you, all you have to do is install freeShop.cia (using FBI) and with that you can download any game you want. You need the arm9loaderhax.bin from this on your SD for it to boot: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/download/v6.6/Luma3DSv6.6.7z

I should point out that everything will work normally as long as you have the file on your SD. All games will work fine.

You can potentially copy this file to your CTRNAND to no longer require the SD card to boot up the 3DS.

As for getting rid of A9LH, CFW, and FBI, there's no reason to do so. I wouldn't recommend it. With these things, you can download free games, etc. If you don't care about these things, then you can just ignore it.

If you want to totally remove the hack (I sell hacked 3DSes and a client wanted a stock one) - read this. https://3ds.guide/updating-a9lh (There is an option to removing it as well.)

But everything should work fine with the proper files on the sd card. If you don't want A9LH, you can potentially ignore everything (FBI included).

Alright then, thanks! I'll keep that in mind. Just one question: I still can do the normal things anyone would do on a non-hacked system, right? If so, then I wouldn't mind keeping everything in there intact.

You can still do all the normal things and pretend the hacks aren't there. And, as I mentioned above, you can also copy the file that's on your SD card to your CTRNAND to no longer need the file on your SD card anymore.

Yes, it's still functionally the same as a non-hacked system. Just keep the arm9loaderhax.bin file on your SD card and you can forget all about the hacks.

I'd recommend against this because we dont know what version of A9LH he has, nor do I think he wants to update it.

That's why I said potentially. And regardless, it doesn't hurt to try. If OP is really bothered by needing the file and SD card, which appears to be the case, then this might be the best solution. Worst case scenario, we also need to update A9LH for it to work.

For one thing, I doubt he has his OTP.
