NOTICE:

It has come to my attention that my old download links and instructions were within the gbatemp rules. I am not linking any actual roms, or full romfs files. I am only linking the individual edited files required to play Rising Sun & Waning Moon. If this is threatened to be taken down once more, I ask that mods first look and tell me why the Nova Sun/Umbra Moon mods do the same and have remained up.

Lets start off with some context. Currently, pk3DS allows us to edit the trainers and move sets of pokemon within Pokemon Sun and Moon. I decided to go ahead and create a challenge mode of sorts, similar to that of Pokemon Blaze Black/Volt White. Currently editing wild encounters!

Changes:
  • Trial Captains and Kahunas now all have teams of 6 Pokemon.
  • Level curve greatly changed. Team should be in high 70s/low 80s by the end of the elite 4.
  • Trainers have Pokemon not usually seen in Alola.
  • Movesets of weaker Pokemon is finished.
  • Youngster Joey has a top percent Rattata.
  • Wild encounters up until the post game are finished! Have fun everyone!
  • Custom music for post game returning trainers.
  • Almost every Pokemon has access to their hidden ability.

A NOTE ABOUT INSTRUCTIONS:
THE EASIEST METHOD IS GETTING A CFW, DO IT WHILE YOU CAN.
Instructions: (CFW Required for this method. See other method below if you don't have a CFW) I also still need to make the method easier for Pokemon Sun users, sorry!

THINGS YOU NEED:
- Latest nightly build of luma. (Get this through the .cia updater)
- The hack's GARC files (the stuff that actually overwrites the original assets) Get it from the Google Drive link

New and Updated Instructions! About time!

Luma Game Patcher Method:
    • Create a folder named titles inside luma.
    • Create a folder with the game's title id as the name (0004000000164800 for Sun, 0004000000175E00 for Moon) inside titles.
  • Create a folder titled romfs within luma/titles/(titleID)
  • Place the "a" and "data" folders within the "romfs" folder.
  • Make sure "Enable Game Patcher" is checked in luma3ds setup.
  • Start Sun/Moon
Thats it! Easiest way to tell if its working is by starting a new game or checking your Trainer Passport.

FOR POKEMON SUN USERS: RENAME THE "3" FILE IN a\0\8\ TO "2"

Layeredfs: (These instructions only apply if you use the Layeredfs files)

The LayeredFS feature allows you to replace RomFS files with files on the SD card for most games. To use it:
  • Create a folder named titles inside luma.
  • Create a folder with the game's title id as the name (0004000000164800 for Sun, 0004000000175E00 for Moon) inside titles.
  • Create a folder called romfs in the game's folder.
  • Place the "a" and "data" folders within the "romfs" folder.
  • For example, to use LayeredFS with Pokémon™ Sun, make a folder named romfs , put your replacement files in it, then put romfs in 0004000000164800.

Todo:
  • Re balance according to feedback.
  • Re balance Pokemon move sets and stats once tools are available.
  • Add in last few Pokemon. (Some starters, legendaries, etc.)
  • Finish documentation on the various changes.

What's the changelog for 1.2/1.3? Is the todo list still accurate? If I start playing now, will I be able to transfer my save to a newer version once it comes out?

Seems like it been playing since 0.73 or 75 can't remember. But it'll work because all that's happening is for example the Luma method it's running the game and the patching is just replacing on the fly the game files with the modified files or more so just instead of using the Og files it's being told to use the modified files in saltySD.
Comparability should always be fine but hey I'm not a expert.

So what'll happen when an update arrives. Using the luma method would it mean we can finally have fully updated romhacks that can go online? Or would the patches still need to be modified to work accordingly?

Really want to play this, but can't for the life of me figure out how to install it, so I'll have to wait for some help.

I'm running gateway, so I can't do it the Luma way. Can't find anywhere on how to actually load HANS up... I did the extracting part, but I can't figure out how to actually use hans....

Also isn't it possible to make a cia for moon with the patched content like the alpha saphire? Would patching code.bin and then just recompiling it into a cia work?

So does anyone know whether legendaries would be shiny locked if they're in the wild? Thinking about chaining for a celebi if legendaries even use the sos stuff. or just trying to find a shiny wild.

I eagerly await a cia for this hack with all the wild mon encounters finished. All I've ever wanted was a way to catch em all in Sun.

I found another bug but i not sure whether got other people had mention before it or not, my Quilava do not evolve to Typhlosion at level 36,i not sure whether this bug happen on which other mons or not,but i hope next beta can fixed all the evolution error ,thank you

I have a question, will using an ability capsule give you a chance in getting a pokemon's hidden ability using the romhack? also is it possible for you to upload separate garc files wthout the a\0\8\3 file? it would save a lot of people who are not using it some time in download.

While I can't get it working right now, is it possible to release a version without the pokemon stats/moveset edits? I noticed that no one ever seems to release their mod as a standalone- just harder with all the pkmn available. Having edits is nice, but it's always going to be subjective and without proper documentation its mostly a guessing game of which pokemon actually got edits and which still suck, and which edits actually make a difference.

Is it normal that the Team Skull Grunt at Route 10 on the 3rd island has Lvl 48 Pokemon?? The last trainer on this route had Lvl 38-40?

EDIT: Both grunts have that high lvl Pokes. Quite a gap.
