i used it to dump my gamepad firmware lmao, but installing titles in a nice gui, having cool settings, having something WELL TESTED instead of shitty homebrew to install apps to my nand, yknow. being safer than homebrew.what would you use it for?
read the bottom, i didnt actually mean exactly that. How ungrateful you are, mate.
As a further security, you could add a check during the installation, if a USB device is connected and refuse to install, if one is connected. I refer to this thread:Just heavily updated the first post, I hope that it may help people with questions in the future.
"Also there still is a myth going around it will brick if you move its icon in the menu; that is false and is perfectly safe as it is only a visual change in the system menu."
Moving around is ok, but putting its channel inside a dashboard folder seems to cause brick, isn't it ?
I would do it if I had the time.If I saw something like this, it be easier to decipher the info
FEATURE MOCHA THIS_THING THE_OTHER_THING
PATCHES XYZ N Y N
Enables ABC Y Y Y
Asper:
That is a wrong report.
he didn't brick because he moved the title into a folder!
the console is bricked for another reason :
1. he didn't check if haxchi was working BEFORE installing CBHC. (he didn't follow the guide or thought it wasn't required, like lot of users who think it's a stupid step to unplug USB as long as you install to sysNAND)
2. his issue was something else (maybe hardware issue, maybe a bad haxchi installation, maybe something else)
that's the kind of report that lot of users transform as rumor.
first user reporting the last thing he did, and other users think it's what caused it.
the issue wasn't based on CBHC, but maybe an incorrect Haxchi installation. Maybe something else, we won't know because he didn't try and check before installing coldboot.
moving the icon, or putting it into a folder on sysNAND is TOTALLY FINE.
I would do it if I had the time.
I made lot of chart like this on the wiki.
I still have to update the wiki, it's missing lot of wiiu information. not a lot of users help on the wiki and they just wait for a page to exist to edit it.
@charlieb :
https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/List_of_WiiU_custom_firmwares
VERY early step. it's only a draft and it might be changed or completely redone later.
Let me know if someone think of better way to make the chart, or additional columns, etc. before I add other CFWs to the list.
don't edit the page yet, I'm still working on it. thanks.
