Gaming Yooka Laylee for WiiU cancelled

Having purchased the WiiU at full retail price (I even went so far as to get the Wind Waker special edition) I feel royally screwed and disenfranchised by the whole WiiU experience. I have been a die hard Nintendo supporter since NES days but the last couple of generations have taken a toll on my tolerance. As far as switch is concerned, I will not be jumping on the bandwagon for quite some time.

Yooka-Laylee literally does not come out until the Wii U enters it's death throes. There is absolutely no reason to launch a game for a console that is actively being replaced by a brand new console.

Honestly I've been pretty happy with my Wii U. I'm a little dissapointed that it's been dropped by some of the latest games, but I intend to get the Switch anyways and it will be getting those games. The Wii U I'm going to treat as an archive console that holds my entire back library of Wii U, Wii, GameCube, N64, SNES, NES, DS, GBA, and Gameboy games.

I agree, the wiiu is actually a great console if you consider the backwards compatible games.
It replaced my wii for that matter. the only thing i'm missing is gba to gamecube conectivity support... no more pacman vs. i could get another wii for 20 bucks but meh

I never understood the concept of spiritual successors. I mean if i want to play Banjo, Megaman or Castlevania i'll play Banjo, Megaman or Castlevania instead of going for those Yookas, Mightys and Bloodrains out there.

Wii U lasted a bit under 5 years, which is about 6 months lower than nintendo's usual cycle. The 3ds will last around 5-6 years, so a bit longer if I recall correctly. I'm quite fine with the Wii U, but I learned my lesson about special editions. If they delay the new zelda game till after the release of the switch, then I'll wait for it to come out before I buy one. Gotta have them zelda special edition consoles yo.

Just because production stops soon, doesn't mean nobody plays the system anymore. I'm sure they could have sold 300.000-500.000 copies. Too bad as I don't plan on getting the Switch soon. Maybe I'll get it on Steam one day.

I suppose you don't mean VC but emulation. Is the emulation of Wii/vWii better than on PC? Somehow there are still graphics bugs on certain N64 games (e.g. invisible enemies in Kirby 64, weird looking fireballs in Smash 64 etc) when using Project 64 (PC).
