Are my PC's specs really all that bad, from a gaming standpoint?

So, people tell me my PC's specs are pretty crappy. I never really listened to them, but now I kind of want some feedback. my specs are as follows(and yes this is a laptop)
CPU: Intel Core i3 3110M @2.4 GhZ
GPU Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Max Resolution: 1366 x 768

so are these really THAT bad? this laptops been running games fairly well for me, until there arenew ones released I wanna play...

Yep that is bad for gaming!... but if you really want gaming i recommend an console wait until march for Nintendo Switch , or get a xbone 1 and get 1.20 tflop or get ps4 for 1.84 tflop or get the pro for 4.20 flop.....or wait until 2017 for xbox one scorpio with 6 tflop! I got a i7 3.20 ghz 4700hq with 750m 2 go geforce and even that if it give 720 tflop it suck for gaming so that why i recommend you a console i got the ps4 pro and it is amazing! why tflop because it mean faster loading and architecture depending of the configuration of the console. Well your pc suck but it is good if you optimize it for game like lol ,war thunder,wolrd of war craft,runescape , and many more low level game so you really need a better apparel !!so console for the win or if you got the cash build a pro pc gamer! my opinion but you can follow your mind! Resolution. Awful, as many laptops are. However that plays to your advantage here as only needing something of that res reduces demand considerably.

CPU. The i3 is the weakest of the core i family, though depending upon the generation it might outperform something older. 2.4GHz is not awful though and beyond that many games would run fine on far older processors (decent ones in the core 2 family).

GPU. Gaming on intel is not quite the joke it once was but it is certainly not a choice many would make. Gaming on laptops is also a tricky proposition a lot of the time.

So yeah without a time machine that would never have been a gaming PC, not all games want the crazy performance though so you can find something more fun than minesweeper and flash games.

I have.... strange tastes in games. just anything that piques my interest really. I like open world games, (like skyrim) I like sandboxes (again, like skyrim) and I love a good JRPG. I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi games, and I despise FPS. I can stand TPS like battlefront 2 (from 2005) but not too much else in regads to shooters. although I have to admit, Elite Dangerous looks cool as hell, too bad for me though. I got no XBONE or PS4. I JUST got my first PS3 recently. finally got to place my SNES in a shrine, right beside the NES and the PS1. but back on point, what I want to play just depends on my mood, mainly.

actually, the only reason I got a PS3 was so I could play Persona 5 on it, which I imported.(what do you know, my skills with other languages actually came in handy! whic is ironic since I'm a translator!)

Yeah it is sad really , but hey get a ps4 so we can game together i hate COD game too But zombie mode are always Welcome. Pc cost a lot in term of being flawless ye it is cool but console do what cheap Pc can't Do and ps4 is always better than xbone 720p vs ps4 1080p!

If I recall, around the 4000 series Intel started making decent progress in their IGPs. I believe it was equivalent to a Nvidia 620m? Nowadays even the Intel 530 is reasonably decent for gaming though.

I got a 4700hq and it is far from a 620m it is close to a 300 series even minecraft struggle with a 750m 2 go and that is close to a 650 gtx!

I was considering building a gaming Laptop myself, actually. I'd have to get my cousin to help. but I'd like to have one of those fancy, what is it, eight core i7's and a geforce 1080. 16 GB of RAM. that'd be cool. I'll be getting a switchboard soon to place in my Laptop so I can use it as a TV screen with an HDMI INPUT instead of just an output.

Ye they are cool but even you shitty laptop can do multimedia it is what console miss to be honest so do what you feel but i RECOMMEND A CONSOLE it is cheaper and will stay with you for at least another 4-6 years without upgrading and tweaking your pc!

yeah, I kinda like tweaking my PC, especially doing case mods. I've got a section where my HDD is located attached via some hinges for easy access. I installed more USB ports as well, in a hidden compartment I made next to the disc drive. had to sacrifice the mousepad for other things,(namely a second HDD slot) but I always use a USB mouse anyway.

as a computer tech that is very bad, its not designed for gaming at at all, its a general use computer. intel GPUs are integrated/shared and not dedicated or discrete like a AMD or Nvidia.

yeah, I could... consoles have some things that they just can't do though. and with only one TV in my house, (and only enough room for one) it's not generally an option for me. unless they can beam the display into my optic nerve. that'd be freakin' awesome.

Keep you pc for those thing and get a console only for gaming that what i do everyday i got my pc for doing thing like talking in forum,movie and low mode game , i would recommend you a ps4 since it is clearly better than a xbox one!

More recent iGPUs are pretty decent. I own a Qosmio x70-B with an i7-4720HQ w/ Intel HD 4600, and I used it when my dGPU failed. It was much worse, but definitely playable, and it was enough for CSGO at 768p, with 60+FPS. I also have a Surface Pro 4 and i7-6650U w/ Intel Iris 540 are pretty decent. CS runs at 80+FPS at 768p.

However, the java version is more relevant. Seriously, the difference in optimization between MC and PE/W10 is astounding.
