Hey
I just joined the 3DS scene.
There is an overwhelming number of hax and methods and I'm getting confused.

I understand that arm9loaderhax + Luma3DS is the point I want to achieve.
To get there there are multiple hacks that are needed.

Please let me know if these steps are correct. I tried reading 3ds.guide and I got very confused.

1. Place the HBL starter pack on the SD card.
2. Primary entrypoint: browserhax. Setup Fiddler to avoid connection to the Nintendo's update sever. Visit yellows8 website and HBL will launch.
3. Install ctr-httpwn. Exit HBL (no reboot). Visit the e-shop to download Steeldiver Subwars and a DSiWare game (any from this list - 3ds.guide/dsiware-list)
4. Run Steeldiver Subwars until it reaches the menu so that a save is created.
5. Place steelhax files on the SD card
6. Run browserhax again. Install steelhax
Question - After steelhax is installed, do I need to do browserhax ever again? I don't understand the concept of primary and secondary entrypoints
7. Place the DSiWare waithax installer on the SD card.
8. Run steelhax to get to HBL. Run the waithax DSiWare installer
9. After this I believe I have to follow 3ds.guide to do a DSiWare downgrade. Then install arm9loaderhax. Install Luma3DS. And then update to the latest firmware.

Any help is appreciated

Well currently only 4 games can be used with slow/waithax right now.
  • Fieldrunners: Works for USA + EUR
  • Legends of Exidia: Works for USA + EUR
  • Guitar Rock Tour: Works for USA + EUR
  • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary: Works for USA + EUR

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, once steelhax is installed, you do not need to use browserhax again. Just launch Steel Diver

So can anyone confirmed the step 2 that OP posted works and you can access homebrew via Browserhax?

I don't have any of those games. I don't have access to the e-shop right now but from what I have read, all 4 of those games have been removed from the e-shop.

If those are the only games that work with waithax, what is this thread talking about - gbatemp.net/threads/dsiware-downgrade-with-almost-any-dsiware-game.452280

What is the alternative to those games?

The dsiwarehax_installer is only able to patch saves (permissions shit but it's impossible to avoid right now). The thread there is explaining the System Transfer version, which requires an A9LH'd 3DS, which has the permissions to modify the application itself. There is no alternative that I know of. There MIGHT be an exploit for the DSi Sudoku, but double check before you possibly waste your money.

NOTE: Sudoku is still on the eShop. If there is an exploit in that game, then get it ASAP.

a really old version of sudoku not on cdn had an exploit back in the dsi days. was patched LONG ago.

you could buy sudoku on a dsi and with a hadmod manually downgrade it to the exploitable version and use that for dsi homebrew, and maybe system transfer that to a 3ds. maybe. but if youre going to hardmod a dsi for 3ds hax, you can just hardmod a 3ds and save a lot of steps

Well if it requires a system transfer, you may as well just inject it with the .app's in Plailect's guide.

I dont have any of the 4 games listed.
So anyone who is new to the scene with the black friday 3DS can pretty much not use waithax to downgrade if they didn't get 1 of the 4 games
