Hacking Bought a Wii U on Firmware 4.1.0

Looking to upgrade to firmware 5.4.0 so I have access to all the features I put on my sd card using SimpliU. Is there any way to do this without upgrading to whatever top firmware the Wii U is currently on?

Sorry if theres an answer to this somewhere, I looked and didn't see anything.

there is literally no reason as far as I know not to update to 5.5.1. which is the latest version at the time of writing this

IOSUhax really only works on latest firmware and there isn't any reason not to upgrade as 5.5.1 is fully exploitable.

I know, I don't want to update to 5.5.1, I wan't to upgrade from 4.1.0 to 5.4.0 or something that is acctually supported by things like loadiine so I can play my games I put on my sd card.

Loadiine works on 5.5.1 and so does iosuhax which allows for installing games to usb and system memory

Exactly what xtheman166 said. Pretty everything you would wanna use on 5.5.1 works.. so i dont understand your logic.

Loadiine is supported on 5.5.1. Once again there is no reason not to update. Plus on 5.5.1 you can take advantage of IOSUhax and install games directly to a USB external drive or the Wii U's internal storage.

You can also play online via the USB install method, something which isn't possible with Loadiine.

it enables patches to let you install games to the internal storage or USB drive. this has the added benefits of appearing on the Wii U menu, and being playable online.

Loadiine GX2 is usable on 5.5.1. so is pretty much anything that can be run through the homebrew launcher.

IOSUHAX Only allows for you to install to usb and system memory.

Your on a outdated website as loadiine works perfectly on the latest firmware 5.5.1

loadiine.ovh should be up to date I thought? it says to update to 5.5.1 too.

anyway, I'd suggest updating to 5.5.1 then start blocking updates. also, do you happen to use a USB drive with your Wii U?

I have a 32gb microsd card with adapter in it. But it's very possible for me to get a usb drive. Why do you ask?

Kirby Mass Attack is $5 and is the cheapest. you can use Haxchi with it, which allows you to use the homebrew launcher offline, without needing to use the browser every time you want to use homebrew. it also works 100% of the time, unlike the browser.

I'd suggest looking at this guide (https://github.com/FlimFlam69/WiiUTutorial/wiki) written by FlimFlam69. It should cover blocking updates and how to get either Loadiine or the USB install method working. Just made sure to read all the warnings, and I'd recommend skipping the Coldboot Haxchi step for now as coldbooting is still fairly new and has the potential to brick.

Aw, dang. I was hoping that there was a way to autolaunch the hombrew launcher without having to browser it ever time. Oh well, I'll make do with that for now until I get that game and use the Haxchi you were talking about.

well coldboothax is not really recommended at the moment.

if you get Kirby Mass Attack (or any DS VC game) and set up haxchi, it would be directly usable from quick start on the gamepad. "Quick Start" was a feature added in 5.0.0, that lets you pick a title to start on the gamepad before the console fully boots up.

Why? On the newest firmware you can load games from usb, use emunand or sigpatches and coldboot them. You can also run loadiine to boot. I don't see any reason to stick around that range. In fact the SD loading on loadiine can be so slow for some games loadtimes increase and some games need edits like starfox did.

Haxchi is also nice since it lets you load sigpatch, boot CFW, load up HBL or really any other homebrew program easily from the Wii U home menu.
